His salary is fully guaranteed at the start of each season, and then he can earn partial guarantees for next season during the current one.

If some team wants to take a massive PR hit they could dump a bunch of salary on the Pelicans in the offseason and then release him I guess, but there's no sense in which that looks anything but terrible for the entire league.

Incredibly hard at this point as I think a lot of guys would still pull some small value, so it is just making a guess about whether some of them will have negative value further into their deal. RN I think Murray is the right choice until he is playing again, but I could see him ending up as the most valuable of this entire group a season from now.

He has a longer contract and has 0% chance of being positive next year. Poole at least has some chance, albeit small, of being something positive next year.

Poole could be a 20 Million Dollar player next year. Murray is going to be a 0 Dollar player next year.
