Mods I apoligize I'm drinking It's Saturday night and Lakers just beat Clippers IN the first game of a back to back and play them again soon following Knicks/Boston after this.
Utah still want 2 pics for Kessler???
I'll offer them this.
Knecht, Cam 2 unprotected and wait for it ... And a pic swap for
Kessler...
In the offseason, I mean really what ever It takes to get Kessler.
Yes It's overpay for the Lakers, but It's the missing piece IMO All In baby!
To my knowledge Lakers have every pic up until 2030 depending what's going on with the Lakers/Hornets trade?
Only thing Is, Is Ainge/Utah willing to trade wtih Lakers anymore??
Edit: atm to my knowledge no one else willing to offer 2 pics for Kessler either.

Atlanta owns the Lakers 2025 FRP
Utah owns the Lakers 2027 FRP
Dallas owns the Lakers 2029 FRP
Can only trade the 2031 FRP, at least until the draft, from which the 2032 pick becomes tradable

Even if LA could offer that, Knecht is a bad fit for us and we don't want more late picks. If the picks + Knecht can be turned into something we want then there could be legs, but we also just like Kessler. He is really good and still young.

Why would you guys sign Kyle then? Not sure what you guys angle are? I'm sure a 3rd team could be Invovled for a Kessler trade of some sort?
I'm not sure Utah willing to keep Kessler long term and pay his next contract, when Is the due date for this to happen btw?

We drafted him in the second round, no one drafts a player that late planning on developing them into a starter. He's very good for where we picked him, but he isn't supplanting Kessler.

Hachimura, Vincent, and some 2nds would be fine.

Yah, expirings and some amount of 2nds is probably the best we will get. I'd like him to get to play on a good team, anyway, he's been good for us and reportedly excellent with the young players.

Unprotect the selection of 27..
Trade Knecht for a FRP and send him to Jazz FRP 2031 Swap FRP 2030...
Would that be enough for Angie..??

I just think thats a lot of marginal value. Obviously there is always the chance of catastrophic injuries one year, but I wouldn't want to trade Kessler now for a shot at a good pick in 2029, etc.

I understand you, frankly I don't see any reason for the Jazz to trade Kessler, even if it's a slight overpayment... maybe if they were unlucky enough to fall in the draft and fall out of the top 3, I would consider a complete reset... But he would be an ideal complement to any of Flagg/Harper/Bailey.

Maybe the Lakers are desperate thinking he's the perfect missing piece and make Angie an offer that's hard to refuse??
At the end of the Draft, will LAL have the 2032 FRP available? And they send ..
Remove FRP protection 2027/ FRP (unprotected 2031) FRP Swap 2030 and 2032...
The Jazz have to do this, right?.. After all, aside from the Suns' 2031 pick and their own picks, they don't have premium assets and these have a very high ceiling....
There are also some interesting centres in the draft in the range of the selection that the Wolves have... like Thomas Sorber or moving up for Maluach...
The Lakers are allowed to cover their most obvious hole in the best way, keep their guys and can always count on free agency.. I guess they continue looking for a defensive guard with Maxi/Vincent/Knecht for KCP+Denver FRP..? or something with M.Smart Vincent+Maxi+ SRP..?

Is that really an offer that is hard to refuse though? 1 future first, guarantee getting a pick that was 99.9% likely to convey anyway, and swap gambles? I feel like the most likely situation in that is the Jazz would come away with only the the 2031 1st.

The trades should be valuable, I mean the Jazz by that time and considering all the assets should be a good team, on the contrary I guess by then the LAKERS should be in decline.. I guess LeBron will be retired and Luka is not projected to have a very long career (he said it himself) it’s a gamble… look at the 76ers this year, no one would think they would be that bad this year and there is a good chance they will give up a top 10 pick to the Thunder or Houston getting the 3rd pick last year (the Nets were top contenders when they sent it) the direction in the NBA can change very quickly.. unprotected FRPs are very valuable in my opinion.. Maybe send Knecht to a 3rd team for some extra FRP..?? Kessler is a very valuable (but replaceable) role player. Every year there are centers in the mid/late draft lottery with similar potential and playing on a lottery team or when he gets his extension his value will be diluted.

I think the Lakers 2031 unprotected 1st could be the best single asset available for Kessler, who becomes extension eligible this summer and typically players lose value at that point.

Lakers 31 + 2 trades in 30/32.. + unprotecting the 27th pick.. gives the Jazz control of the Lakers picks in 4 of the next 7 years...with Lebron (I assume) retiring or at least (I assume) dropping his production, it's a gamble the Jazz should take, especially when they don't even have the star to build around and lack premium assets (outside of their own picks and the Suns 31st)....They could draft a center with the Wolves pick this year (Sorber?) and avoid having to pay Kessler

Utah doesn't want to be tanking for another 6 years. It's one thing to trade 3 late first for a pick 6 years in the future, and another to trade a player who helps you win asap. Also, an unprotected Laker pick in 2031 doesn't hold the same value as that Suns pick they traded for. Unprotected laker picks took a hit value-wise when they acquired Luka.
