Straight up. What would Booker return if offered to a team who gets said pick? We'll make the qualifier that money can be worked out.

Pretty high.

Maybe anyone outside Flagg.

2nd is a brainer, I can see some teams trading Flagg for him...

This. I would have Charlotte, Brooklyn, New Orleans as teams who if they had lotto luck would be interested in Booker using #1 overall.

Any team at 2nd should swap it for Booker in a heartbeat as long as they could match the salary reasonably at all.

A bit over the top, I don't think any team would reasonably deal Cooper Flagg for Booker. But pick 2/3 is possible for a few, though I suspect most tanking teams would rather have the pick. From 4 onwards I think probably every team would take Booker.

I wouldn’t trade Flagg for him, but I’m not sure that’s unanimous. PHX shouldn’t consider outside the top 3 in this draft imo.

Flagg is who I'd be hoping for obviously but that might be on a case by case basis who pulls the trigger on that

Nah, Harper is an extremely good guard prospect and Booker isnt a Top Tier star who changed the fortunes of a team.

Trading Flagg for a Top 20-ish player seems terrible return.

How convinced are you Flagg is ever more than that? I really like the kid, but I'm not seeing no-brainer 1st option superstar.

Go over the #1 overall in the last 15 years, all of them were huped as franchise cornerstone, some hyped more than Flagg, how many of them had better career than Booker?
That's the chance you're taking, add to that the fact that for the next 3-4 years Booker will almost certainly be better player, which is the trigger for trade.

Flagg is a great prospect but he’s not in the LeBron/Wemby tier where you can dismiss out of hand the idea of trading him for an established superstar who’s only 28

Well that's not the only value for a prospect as good as Flagg, right?

1) Ceiling higher than Top 20
2) Cost controller at MLE level for 4 years then RFA status

I don't consider Booker a no-brainer 1st option either, yet Booker is paid like one.

I consider Flagg to be the 3rd best prospect over the past decade behind Wemby and Luka. Better wing prospect than Tatum, Simmons, Paolo, Cade, Wiggins, Miller, Edwards.

I'd be surprised if Flagg doesn't have super impact right away like Amen Thompson or Wemby. He has incredibly high IQ and is a super-competitor.

Im not bullish on him becoming a top-tier offensive engine but he also has outlier work ethic, competitiveness and drive which doesn't take it off the table either.

I don't think *all* of them were hyped as cornerstones, certainly not Bennett or Risacher. There was also Edwards who had really interesting upside but some clear red flags (esp. his shooting).

Clear busts: Bennett, Fultz
Clear underperformers: Wiggins, Simmons, Ayton
Underperforming thus far: Zion
*not including Risacher here, I think he will underperform relative to other #1 picks but be okay relative to a lot of options in that draft.

That's a 2/3rds hit rate. However, you can kind of throw out Bennett's year + recognize that Fultz/Simmons had injury issues that derailed their chances of approaching the kind of performance we expected from them.

I’m trading Flagg for him easily if the goal is to make the playoffs.

Personally it’s hard for me to bet on a tweener.
Does flag have the handles and foot speed to dominate NBA wings? Or is a small PF.

Risacher and Bennet (who wasn't in the last 10 years) are the exceptions, every #1 pick is hyped as such, when he isn't the draft is
declared beforehand as such, like this year.

I'd argue that Edwards was a bit of an exception, too. I don't disagree about the pick value for Phoenix here, though. Given where they are at, if you get offered Flagg for Booker I think you take that and feel relatively good about it. That said, I'd prefer them to at least try to get their own picks back? I'm not sure if that is the right call, but it would be worth at least checking into first.

Not every #1 pick was hyped as franchise cornerstones, that's hyperbolic.

Second, I rate Flagg as the 3rd best prospect in the past decade behind Luka and Wemby.

I would trade Bailey or Harper (probably)
