If the Kings Rebuild: Best Sabonis Offer

Post#1 » by NYG » Tue Mar 4, 2025 12:27 am

If the Kings decide they just can't run with this current Western Conference landscape and decide to rebuild, what would be the best Sabonis offer?

I’m afraid POR will make an offer and then suffer 5-6 years of futility pretending he is a number one guy on a good team.

I have a counter proposal and it is no.

I'm neutral in this situation, so tell me how far off I am. Why not Ayton (one year left) + Scoot Henderson (Kings traded away their PG to San Antonio and don't really have one) for Sabonis (three years left).

Maybe a little silly after Fox, but him and Wemby could be an interesting pairing no?

Hawks? Pistons? Heat? Pelicans? Suns via multi team KD deal?

Sabonis makes them contenders. He’d be a tremendous fit. But without Lavine to carry the value load the Spurs would have to hand over all of their rebuilding assets…yes, including Castle and ATL picks.

I don’t think it’s realistic but Hartenstein, Cason Wallace, picks

I wouldn’t do it for POR. Not because I am high on either outbound player but because I am afraid the FO would try to compete with a team around Sabonis just not any better than his SAC team.

Would it cost Castle? Would the Spurs still do it?

How would Sabonis and Bam work together? What would be Detroit's best offer? I could see them liking him and Cade together

There is no way Monte can trade both Fox and Sabonis without getting Castle and the ATL picks. Maybe the Spurs can find a third party to send value like with Fox, but straight two teams…yeah must be Castle and picks and more.

The odds the Kings go rebuild aren’t good though.

He’d go great with Bam, the Heat just don’t have the assets outside of Bam.

Ice is thin. The plan this year was not to fire a coach you just extended and trade your franchise guy.
