Ayo to BRK?

Wondering if BRK would send one of their 3 1sts in the 20's for Ayo?

Bulls still have A LOT of guards. I like Ayo a lot, but Jones has played well, Huerter looks reborn, Coby and Giddy will be the starters and Ball is going to be back. Plus, there's still Carter and Terry.
Of course, some of these guys can play the 3, but we need minutes for Matas/Phillips/PWill, and we'll have the #9 pick or so too.

So, would BRK absorb Ayo and give Chi the #25 pick? BRK needs guys like him to rebuild

From the Bulls side, I think they love his hustle and defense, yes he can drive to the basket and shoot the open 3 he isn't enough of scorer to keep the defense occupied and it's rare that he'll take a contested shot. He's great to have but as you say, they have too many guards and can't keep playing 4 at a time.

Now Tre Jones has played well but on the other thread he's average and the Bulls can't afford to keep average long term. Can't play on two teams. Look you can't have 15 great players on the roster, it's a value to have a guy like Jones who brings energy and hustle but can still score inside and out. Between Ayo, sometimes Coby and even Giddey, Terry all the time, Jones is real PG who doesn't pick up his dribble unless he has a pass in his mind, which means he doesn't get trapped much, he doesn't get up in the air and then have no place to go with a shot or pass. Those others aren't rookies but they still do those things.

If the goal is to get a FRP for Dosunmu maybe the Nets do it. What is a late pick this year do for the the Bulls? You listed the guards, no late draft pick is jumping ahead for minutes. Do they draft a forward, behind Matas, Williams, Phillips, maybe the #10 pick, are either Giddey or Ball playing some at the 3? A center behind Collins and Smith or with no position for sure who do they get back trading Vucevic?

I would spend a lot more time looking at a 2026 pick, more unsure of where it lands. Maybe send Ayo to the Nets, who send a pick in the 20's to third team an the Bulls get that 3rd team's 2026 pick top 8 protected.

I don’t think Brooklyn should pay it. They paid a lot to tank next season and should stay committed to it. They need to stay terrible one more year and hope to draft well. Maybe 2026 free agency is nice to them. The most exciting names are gone, but there’s still some really good players.

I think I’d need to know more about Ayo’s surgery before giving up even a late first for him now that he’s an expiring? But assuming he will be 100% for next season (I think he will be but don’t follow the Bulls closely.)

ATL has the LAL pick. Orlando has the Den pick. Neither have tax issues next season so it’s simple trades. (Assuming LAL/Den stay roughly where they are at in standings)

That’s what I’d be looking at.

I don't think the Nets should be making win moves, unless they get Cooper Flagg and even then, those assets would be much used to getting a younger star. For as Ayo himself, I think he's worth between the 15-20 pick(maybe a bit lower than that) in this years draft class. He's a good defender and he's useful on offense, tho the 3pt shooting is concerning.

Value is likely about right, but Brooklyn is no where close to trading even a late 1st for a expiring guy that likely projects at best as your 3rd guard if you have a half way decent team. Better to take BPA or try to roll over the pick to a future year. They can target Ayo in FA if they like in the 27 offseason.

I figure BRK can't be terrible-they have to sell tickets next year. They should keep cap space, sign Thomas to a front loaded deal and lose in the 2025-26 season as well. But, they don't want to be historically bad. Ayo will have a low 2026 cap hold, so he might be worth it as a solid 2 way player who's a great kid and will help with the culture as well

Outside of Chicago and basketball forums most casual ticket buying fans likely don't even now Ayo exists. He is not going to affect ticket sales one iota there, they are going to be near the bottom in attendance no matter what. Landing a top 3 pick could help some there but guys like Ayo have no material effect on ticket sales. I would even go one step further and state that if Ayo was on the Nets currently they would be looking to flip him for value.

Sorry, I should have been clear-not that Ayo directly will help sell tickets. He will help them not be really bad, which should help ticket sales.

A lineup of Ayo/Thomas/ZWilliams/CJohnson/Claxton with a bench of KJohnson, Whitehead, Sharpe, Clowney and a top 5 pick (let's say they get Bailey) will win more that 20 games, and be competitive. Not a threat for the Playin, but not REALLY bad and somewhat fun to watch.
Maybe BRK can be terrible and still make $, not sure. But Ayo is a solid young pro to help the kids develop
