HAWKS
In:Mark Williams
Out: Bufkin/Lakers FRP 25/FRP 27(worse NOP/Bucks)
They take the gamble on Williams, who would be an ideal fit alongside Trae Young and fits perfectly with his skills and youth.
HORNETS
In: Ayton/Lakers 25/FRP27 (by Hawks)
Out: Nurkic/MWilliams
He continues to accumulate assets, while consolidating his central position...the idea would be to keep Ayton for the long term, in a more coherent number.
BLAZERS
In: Nurkic/Bufkin
Out: Ayton
They get Nurkic back, who they apparently have a good relationship with, now in a mentor role, giving them depth without taking minutes away from Clingan. He gets salary relief and a guard
prospect to keep an eye on.
How do you see the value...who says no? thoughts...

I do it for Portland only because of the salary relief.

I really don’t like Ayton.

As a Hawks fan, I'm intrigued. Williams is exactly the type of center I'd love to see complement Okongwu. Not sure if Williams is worth two firsts, but neither of those firsts are that great, so think I would bite... providing the Hawks' medical staff views Williams in a better light than the Lakers' staff did, of course.

I like Ayton for the Hawks more than Williams...and I don't see why CHA gets two frps for taking in an overpaid, but very promising, healthy and, at worst, expiring for a guy with very questionable injury history. I've often thought that an Ayton/Trae combo could be the offensive combo that could bring out Ayton's best...Trae will keep him happy with lobs and easy baskets-maybe enough to get him to play some D.
For POR, Ayton's expiring anyway...what's the point-even if you don't want him back?
Ayton's still got the greatest updside of the group...might as well give it another go...or even buy him out or sit him...or trade him elsewhere if there's a better offer.
*I also really like Mark Williams and posted a handful of offers for him to ORL just today...but I'd say he's now a buy-low "hope he's ok" swing.

Mark Williams was looking more like "the idea of DeAndre Ayton" rather than "the reality of DeAndre Ayton" prior to his injury last year. And even post injury, his offense looks like something serious. Mark absolutely deserves the benefit of a healthy offseason to prove himself, and trading him before he gets that opportunity would be a stupid rebuilding move when you do not have another young center in the fold, and this draft doesn't appear to be the place to get one.
But of course if there is a way to be stupid, I have no doubt Jeff Peterson will find it.

Ayton will be a one-and-done next season, and we'll be back to nobody's at C, or a giant albatross contract.

Why not simplify it by doing Bufkin for Williams (plus some seconds). Both have injury issues, and both may need that change of scenery?

Because one has shown himself to be at least an average starter at his position when healthy and the other is only slightly ahead of being in Jalen Hood-Schifero territory. Not to mention CHA already has a near entire basketball squad of middling young guard prospects (Tre Mann, Nick Smith JR, Wendell Moore JR, KJ Simpson). Bufkin has shown nothing to separate himself from anyone I just listed.
You cant seriously think Bufkin and 2 SRP gets you Mark Williams.

Oh man, I assumed Robert Williams, which would be much closer than Mark Williams.

I can.. seeing how the original trade was for knecht, who had only half a season under his belt.., Reddish, a 2030 first, and a pick swap in 31. So, one young player, salary filler and a first. This all BEFORE concerns of an injury. I would maybe revisit and do a Bufkin + Lakers this year, but that's about it..
