In the offseason he can:
- Opt in and stay a Wolves player
- Opt in for a strade to another team
- Opt out and hit FA looking for capspace
- Opt out and re-sign with Wolves

What are we thinking?

Whoever gets him will have instant buyers remorse.

He's a poor defender not a great passer likes to Pound The Rock too much and takes threes inefficiently x4.5 a game... in my opinion too high of a usage for his skill set

Also making $30 million

If someone gives him a contract making more than that they are making poor choices

I think he's opting in

Minny should try and get him to opt out and sign a new long-term deal starting at a smaller number but guaranteeing him 9 figures.

If Randle opts in then you have to think Randle+McD for Durant is happening, makes sense for both teams.

Beal, Booker, McD, Randle, Richards

Conley, Ant, Durant, Naz, Gobert

I think Bud would have a lot of fun with Randle and he'd be All-NBA again.
I think Ant and Durant with Gobert backing is something both would want.

Makes a lot of sense. I think Phoenix could also ask for Dillingham, cuz they gave up a lot for KD

It'll depend on how he looks in the PO, but he's not opting out w/o prior agreement with the Wolves.

I do think Phoenix makes the most sense for Randle given their insane pick debt.

I don’t think Minnesota should push in by trading McDaniels for KD though, so I would be looking at KD to a third team and tax relief to Minnesota when Randle does opt in.

KD to “Houston”
14-18ish total salary from Houston to Minnesota
Randle+15-20 million for Houston+asset to Phoenix
Fourth team getting some salary+minor asset from Houston to make the salaries work

Then Minn can decide on keeping Houston’s salaries or paying to dump it themselves.

But if Minn ownership is willing to pay to keep the team together, and Naz is willing to keep his current role with a pay raise - I’d keep Randle in Minn for now. get him on a declining deal or a flat at a smaller number. Maybe next deadline/draft you move him for a guard if Dillingham isn’t improving. Maybe you keep the entire top of the rotation if the team keeps playing well.

FA/Booker/McDaniels/Randle/Claxton
Allen/Royce/Richards

Beal/Dillingham/2 FRP(by SUNS) ..NETS

Randle is going to be a guy that a win now team that needs scoring/shot creation with a limited assets takes on.

Dallas actually makes sense here as I see the logic of a 3 man front court mix with AD, Lively and Randle. AD can split his minutes between the 4 and 5 and Randle gives Dallas another shot creator (although without Kyrie for most of next season this might not make much of a difference ). Randle is also a Texas guy.

This would need to be an opt in and extend, with Randle going to Dallas, Klay Thompson going to MIN and Daniel Gafford going to a 3rd team (or minn sending minimum salary to a 3rd team and keeping Gafford to avoid a 1st apron hard cap).

The Mavs have PJ Washington in Randle's place and he also needs a new contract...I don't see it...
Ami fits me along with Wemby as an inner presence

Randle to Dallas seems to make more sense in either a AD or PJ based deal?

You don’t play PJ and Randle together and you don’t let PJ walk because you got Randle..

I don’t want him in Dallas, but just the idea.

This is unpopular here, but Randle is the better player. But no reason you can't keep both. Especially since we were told the new guys would have no problem spending like the old guy. :D

I actually like this but I think Randle opts in because nobody will pay him that much as a UFA. But I think PHX might get a better return for KD…maybe MIN adds a young player or pick.

i'll believe that when i see it... i think if they keep both then they may lose NAW (dont think they will keep all 3 and stay in 2nd apron). If you had to keep 2 out of the 3 which duo would you choose? (i would pick Reid/NAW given age)

I mean I probably decide based in part on contract demands. But assuming this board is correct, Randle should be the cheaper of the two,no? (note: I think Randle warrants a higher AAV personally). And while Naz fits really well in his role, I don't see how the Wolves just pay Naz and NAW more and cut out their 2nd shot creator and stay particularly competitive especially with the Conley decline.

It just can't all be on ANT.

Man....if Nico trades Luka for AD and then trades AD for Julius Randle in the span of six months, Dallas fans might actually burn the AA Center to the ground

I think he opts into his contract. He could get packaged into a deal for KD, but I don't know. I think the Mavericks and Rockets will offer better package and those teams are teams that KD would want to join.
