HEAT
In:Murray
Out: Rozier/Kyle
Heat, without premium assets to win any auction for a star, acquire talent (at risk) at "low cost."
NOP
In: Rozier/Anderson
Out:Murray
Season after season derailed by injuries, they accept the loss and move on. They get Rozier's expiration date to fill the position and a veteran forward. In this scenario, they come out of the draft with one of the guards at the top. Harper/Jakucionis/Fears
What do you think about the value and direction? Does the HEAT have to send the Warriors' pick? Any of their prospects?

Re: Heat/NOP
My first reaction is Heat do have to add value. Idk if it’s a first though, but as I think about it more and the coffee settles in. Murray is injured (Achilles). He is coming off a bad season and has one of the worst contracts in the league. The players Miami is giving have zero value and NO save long term money. Idk, maybe the trade is good.
From Miami perspective it is significant risk but they are not giving up anything so maybe worth the gamble.

Re: Heat/NOP
Makes no sense for the Heat, Terry expires and Kyle's contract is fine.
Why trade for an injured player on a big contract? Flexibility and good contracts are king in this CBA, this isn't achieving either of those things.
They need a MVP type talent and not another borderline all star calibre player, this trade is locking them into mediocrity for longer. Terry's contract can be used to facilitate a trade or for salary matching purposes, if there is a cheap way to dump him you can do that too, but this isn't it.

This is a big no for Miami, Flexibility is king and we're there. This isn't the type of deal you give it up for,

Re: Heat/NOP
This seems kind of like a lose lose here. Pels aren't end up paying more money next year for players of limited value that they would then have to add assets to in order to get something in return. Miami gets a guy who probably wont be able to play until 2026. I don't get it.

Re: Heat/NOP
I sort of like DJM to Dallas if NOP is willing to trade him cheap (more than OP, but still cheap)
Sort of just back the team into a corner with tanking next season. Come out with Kyrie/DJM/AD in 2026 and whatever youth (or whatever star we trade the youth for).. No idea if AD would demand a trade after a week or not. Probably a terrible idea.
But yeah. Miami won’t trade for an injured guard imo. And NOP probably is okay with sitting on their player if this is all he’s worth, and it might be all he is worth currently.. really sad injury for NOP.
