Jarrett Allen availability, value, offers

I think that even though he's a very good player,
I think if the Cavs want to maximize their team, they'll eventually have to use Mobley as their starting 5.
He's 26 years old (he turns 27 in a month). He has four more years on his contract (after this one), earning $20/$28/$30/$32 million.
He's averaging 13.5 ppg/10rb/2ast in 28.6 minutes.
What do you think it is worth? And what would you offer for it?
or not available

Jusuf Nurkic + 6-7 pick in the draft if the Hornets picks falls that far for Jarrett Allen. Mark Williams would get moved in another trade for assets.
Nic Claxton(gets reroute for additional assets)+Knicks pick this year(27th overall)+ Knicks 2027 pick(top 5 protected) for Jarrett Allen: With Gary Harris + Wendell Carter Jr+ Tristan Da Silva + Nuggets pick this year(25th or 26th overall) for Nic Claxton

The problem I've seen with Allen is that he's had problems with bigger centers (Zubac or Robinson dominated him)... I suppose the Cavs would like to get a forward back?

Something around Edey and Aldama to finally give Ja a good screener/finisher?

I guess you didn't see the OP...he's only considering moving Allen so Mobley emerges as the starting C. Allen is too valuable to ride the pine, so is Hartenstein.
I don't agree with the OP, but I might've written it this time last year...57-14 says I was wrong

I do see him a target for Indy if he Pacers lose Myles. In that case, I’d also see Indy arranging a Myles signing as a sign and trade, as only Brooklyn (maybe Detroit) could otherwise make a straight offer in free agency. In that case, Myles would probably be BYC, so he could count as $19.9m outgoing, and an Allen would only count as $20m incoming. Pretty easy to make something work salary wise, so at that point, plug and play with the value in picks and/or players and maybe figure something out…

Cleveland would need size back in an Allen trade. Allen and Mobley are the only bigs that play for Cleveland so they get very small whenever one is out. They'd need a backup center and a solid big forward option in return to avoid this.

I think Hartenstein allows Cleveland to maintain size but they also pick up an asset for the future.

Think Allen/Mobley work well together and Mobley can play the 15mpg at center Allen doesn’t if you want.. Allen is signed to an affordable contract and locked up long term.
I don’t think Mobley should be a full time center personally. But if Cleveland went that route, think Allen would return a good player.
For the OP and the Turner sign and trades idea, I’d look at Turner to NOP, Herb to Cleveland type deals. No idea what else goes into it. But seems like 3 happy teams.

If it came to that, I don’t know that Indy wouldn’t just take Herb rather than Allen…

I think Indy would maybe feel better able to cobble together a center rotation (Bryant? Jackson? And an affordable vet signing or “dump acquisition”) with a defensive monster in the middle of the lineup switching all over? Might even see Siakam as small ball center in lineups, etc.

Probably right? Though indy should just keep Turner really.

If Evan can step up the 3PT volume while continuing to hit 37+% then I see no reason to move Allen.
The only way I move him is if, after a decent playoff run it becomes clear at the end of game you dont want to play them together - but I am far from convinced that is the case.
IMO CLE simply needs to keep building out their depth.

Pelicans love Allen. If any of the same regime is here, they would absolutely offer.

Agreed. It really appears by all accounts that’s the plan? But…if someone else jumped in with a huge offer and Myles just told Indy he wanted to leave? Just thinking through other concepts as fall backs….

To even consider it, the Cavs would need a C or PF back that replicates what Allen does well— a good 1-on-1 post player who can switch onto smaller guards, protect the rim, and rebound. And shoots at a league-high TS%.
Allen is actually a great fit in Cleveland and I can’t think of a lateral move that fits better. And the logistics of the Cavs making offseason moves are going to be nearly impossible— they will almost certainly be well over the 2nd apron.
