Bulls/Warriors/Blazers everyone happy?

BULLS
In: Kuminga (ST)
Out: Williams/Carter/Blazers FRP

The Bulls seem inclined to build through trade...here they get what would be a long-term starter for a protected pick.
JK's contract would be decreasing; it starts inflated the first year (to equal salaries) and decreases each year.

WARRIORS
In:J.Grant/3 Future SRP(Blazers)
Out: Kuminga (ST)

The Warriors, in win-now mode, get the best player in the trade and get a few small assets.

BLAZERS
In:P.Williams/Carter/Blazers FRP
Out:J.Grant/3 Future SRP

Blazers ready for the next step...they get their pick back before losing it...and while Williams is a downgrade on the court, he fits better in the timeline and most importantly gives them flexibility, since he makes +/- half as much as Grant...Who makes more sense in a contender?

GS are better off signing Kujminga to 100/3 than taking on Grant IMO, or even letting him go and use the MLE + BAE and re-sign Looney under the 1st Apron.

Just pay Kuminga if you’re going to take on Grant’s contract..

There’s probably some legal issues with the OP though.

GSW will be a tax team and they’re sending out just a rookie contract sign and trade.. So byc type.

Seems difficult to match Grant’s contract.

If you think Kuminga has the upside potential this is a Bulls' fantasy trade.

Even if that PORT pick opens up, that's #15 at best, Carter is a small defensive pest, streak shooter and 6-1 not all that impressive and there are Bulls fans who think Williams is a bust so how does he look attractive to PORT?

I don't see the GSW thinking Grant is the answer, he has always put up his biggest numbers on losing teams, for him to show anything with Curry, Butler and Green is very unlikely

Blazers are better but hardly are contenders

IF (big IF) GSW welcomed Grant (they might and they also might not have better offers for Kuminga)...just cut out CHI and POR could take Kuminga to add to their exciting young group of athletic freaks. I could see a "lob city" forming for Scoot, just throwing it to the top of the backboard for Kuminga and Sharpe to chase...with Clingan as a brick wall defensive anchor. I don't mention Simons, because he should be in ORL by then.

Also intriguing to imagine how a Giddey to Kuminga lob connection could look if they found a way to cut out POR (something with Vuc and picks?)

Hard pass on Kuminga to POR.

Someone else can overpay him.

Neither.

POR already has 2 forwards better than either of those guys.

you're aready stuck with grant, the q is would you rather keep grant or take kuminga for him instead.. neither isn't really an option here

Kuminga is gking to the Bulls, Blazers are getting PatWill/Carter/their 1st, 0 chance they say no IMO.

Pat stinks but maybe a change of scenery will help.

He's getting paid balf what Grant is, next year he'll be MLE level contract, that's the main appeal.

MLE is 14M next year, so he's still above it for another few years/cant be dumped into anyone's MLE exception

The pick, dumping Grant, the potential upside of PW. Unlikely to pan out but possible.

I'm not sure they would pull the trigger on a trade like that.

Admittedly, it is close - but Portland could likely value Grant's veteran leadership over taking on Pat Will's contract.

Didn't mean it fits the MLE, just that it's MLE level, MLE is 70/4 which is 16-17, he's paid 18

Wow, it barely went up this year, I used Grant Williams contract from last year and added 20%, this year Mavs didn't use the full MLE.
Still, it's same ball park...
