I guess? It only takes one team though so if someone wants to YOLO on Zion health or Ball health and that he can succeed when games actually matter maybe they pay more?

Such a dichotomy from the other thread where Kings fans are giving Sabonis away for scraps.

I have a tough time with Zion vs Sabonis. Talent is all Zion, but health tips the scales the other way.

I see everyone else has Sabonis at the top. That's hard to justify considering the difficulty level of winning with the guy.

Lauri may be having a bad year, but he's the easiest one to fit into a championship team save Durant, but also much younger than Durant.

Until he gets hurt and/or takes a drastic dip in production, Durant is always gonna have tremendous value to non-lotto teams. Sabonis is the most durable/consistent All-Star of the bunch, and young teams are always gonna bet on the talent of dudes like Zion and Ball with their age, despite the injury concerns. Not trading Markannen at peak value was honestly an all-time GM blunder by Ainge. Danny Granger situation all over again.

Sabonis - all star with no real concerns
Ball - huge upside, injury concerns as well as questions about whether he'll play winning ball
Lauri - borderline all star with no real concerns
Durant - superstar on the decline
Zion - huge upside, consistently injured and shows no sign of work ethic and discipline he would need to stay healthy given his play style and size.

It's not really kings fans. It's mainly one poster Lighthebeam. He seems to think that tearing it down and starting from scratch is the right call. I personally disagree. We have plenty of talent our issues are around fit. For whatever reason our GM forgets that we only play with one ball on the court.

As far as Trade Value:
Tier 1 Sabonis
Tier 2 Ball, Durant
Tier 3 Zion
Tier4 Markkanen

Sabonis... solid shooter from all over the court good playmaker gets a bunch of rebounds but needs a team crafted to his playing style a bit

Durant... getting up there in years but he can still make a huge impact and his numbers are still good 50something% from 2 43somwthingush% from 2

Ball... has a lot of potential and you see flashes of it here and there has has some health issues

Zion... has huge potential but much less likely to reach it constantly injured out of shape motivation problems... he will probably put it all together when he goes to LA

Lauri... will be making $50 million for the next few years and is not incredible at anything doesn't get many rebounds bad Defender below average shooter from 3 from 2 ans ts% also not much of a playmaker... from my team's standpoint I would treat him as a bad contract

Strong take. It's almost inverse of what is appearing to be the consensus in this thread.

I don't see any way Lauri would be most valuable here. A good (but mediocre) role player making $40+M a year??? He had 1 good season (in a contract year), and outside of that - he's been inconsequential. He has negative trade value IMO.

It's definitely the outlier of the thread, but I don't see anything remotely resembling consensus here. Opinions seem all over the place.

Sabonis, Durant — elite performers. Sabonis was the most egregious AS snub.

Lauri, Zion — really good players with an uncertain market for various reasons.

Ball — maybe the most unserious player I've ever seen. Wouldn't want him anywhere near my team.

With any of these it only takes one suitor with rose-colored glasses to upend the market.

Sabonis - easily the most valuable. Flawed player, but all star caliber player. Probably miscast as a #1
Durant - Solidly positive value, but expensive for what he is. You have to worry he falls off at anyone moment. Shouldn't return a haul, but still positive value
Lauri - not a winning player, seems like the Lavine of PFs. Would have been valuable piece two years ago, but now has fallen off and expensive. Probably a negative trade value at this point, though some team may fall in love with the archetype.

Wildcards -
Ball - Is Ball actually a good player? I am not sure yet, might be an empty stats player. All the injuries also contribute to a lot of teams passing on him.
Zion - obviously talented, but the weight and injury issues will make teams hesitate.

Again we can address this now, or pay the price in 10 months. I would have loved a competent organization that kept fox, and added good fitting pieces around what was a really strong core of fox, keon, monk, keegan, sabonis.

Instead we added a 45 million a year guy who only shows up against bad teams. An iso only undersized SF who doesn't play defense. And an aging past his prime offense only backup center. And drafted an undersized guard instead of Ware or Da Silva.

Yes the talent is there, but Sabonis himself knows fixing the team isn't realistic at this point.

Ball - Still young, and needs to be put in a competent system
Durant - I think a mid level team pays for a short window title run, still a top tier scorer
Sabonis - Really good player with a few flaws. Requires a specific built team, not a huge market for him
Zion - Highest Upside, highest risk
Lauri - Got overpaid and underperformed. Not sure he's worth a whole lot at this point.
