Bulls/Mavs

MAVS
In: Gafford/Powell
Out: Vucevic

The simple version is Gafford/Powell (filler) for Vuc.
The Mavs get the best offensive player, who can spread the floor (important if AD is going to play a lot of the 4), a better scorer, and even a playmaker... areas where the Mavs need help...

BULLS
In: Gafford/Powell
Out:Vuc

For the Bulls, it's giving Giddey a good PnR center... a different archetype than what they have. He's also younger, so he'd be a better fit long term.

Adding a vertical threat to the Bulls would help unlock more of Giddey/White skill-sets as playmakers.

I don't like the fit of Vuc in Dallas, but the framework here is strong, and adding a 3rd team should be relatively easy, who sends a lower-tier center to Dallas and another asset.

I think they are good business partners, at first I thought something different and bigger... also because Gafford and BULLS might not want to join again

J.Smith/Lonzo MAVS

Gafford HAWKS

Ayton BULLS

Collins or Vuc/Hardy

I like it for both teams, though I doubt CHI trade for a guy they traded away, but it's possible.

This is just too big. I'm talking about adding a 3rd team to take Vucevic, not to rewrite the Declaration of Independence.

Adding a big that can operate in the high post and pass is a different look and is actually needed IMO.

Lively was showing this.

I'm not totally against the idea of a guy like Vuc, especially with no Kyrie for much of the year, but if Dallas brings in the PNR guard they need to be bringing in, they probably should keep Gafford since Lively is sure to miss a bunch of games and their offense works best with that vertical threat. AD doesn't want to do that and Vuc can't.

Maybe if Kai Jones gets a min contract to be that guy as your in case of emergency center (ie the Dwight Powell roster spot)?

I think they should sign Kai Jones and use Gafford (Powell/Hardy) as a trade chip...if there's any positive point in the Mavs' disastrous injuries, it's that they could have found some decent guys at the end of the bench...B.Williams/K.Edwards/Kai Jones could replace Hardy/Powell/Gafford

I can see the Mavs and a lot of other teams actually wanting Vucevic but few on any board will ever endorse the move. Davis has long wanted to play the 4 and his defense helps offset Vuc's lack of defense.

The Bulls don't need 2 centers back, in fact they don't need any center back if they can hep it. Zach Collins and Jalen Smith only need a tall kid behind them to cover the position.I don't know if the bridge got burned that Gafford would want to come back to CHI, he's a better defender and rebounder than when he left but still has a shooting range of 5 feet. Powell, admit it, is just a salary fill in and excess DAL baggage.

Find a 3rd team for Gafford and Powell and get the Bulls a genuine PF or stretch 3.

Lively is different, Vuc is a true high post player with back to the basket and theoritical 3pt shot, Lively can fill the P&R roll man role.

Yes, I am aware they are different players...

But Lively did show passing ability out of the high post. Luka would draw the double, back up and hit Lively at the FT line and he was pretty effective distributing from there. It's part of why we were so high on him coming off his rookie year -- not only did he show he could already defend at an NBA level as a rookie, but he had more than just a rolling offensive game.

Not Vuc obviously. Vuc has a much more complete offensive game. Was simply pointing out he showed what you were speaking of. :D

What about a lively/fillers for Vuc+White trade?

This is more interesting, but I wouldn't be ready to give up Lively for one year of White knowing I can't extend him prior to FA. Vuc doesn't actually change the value, plus I then have to pay/replace Gafford who also lacks Lively's defense--though with AD you might can live with that.

I understand Lively's value has taken a real hit from where it was last summer and rightfully so. Another rookie contract year lost, and we barely saw him play costing him progression and devaluing him because of significant injury history.

But I'd rather hold on to him than trade him at that new valuation if this is all I could get back. Would add him to a deal for a bigger difference maker under longer control if it made sense. But not for short term solutions.

No interest, I like White, but I have Reaves as better player and even for Reaves I'm torn on giving up Lively.
Combo guards just are tough to shell premium assets for, and I have Lively as a premium asset, despite the recurring injuries, he was that good last year and the 20 games Mavs were healthy with Luka this year.

Coby White? The back to back Eastern Conference player of the week? Chicago's not really listening to offers that include "filler"
