Philly/Sac

Assume Sac has a pick 9-12.
Assume Philly is 2-3 with Ace on the board.

PG/2-3 for 9-12/Keegan/LaVine/Spurs 27 unprotected.

Philly gets to compete for the rest of Joel’s deal by moving off PG assuming he is effectively done, they bring in another 20+ scorer to pair with Maxey, Keegan provides the wing D and they still get a rookie deal guy at 9-12. Plus they get an unprotected first to make deals with. Basically they compete over rebuild around Ace.

Sac does the opposite and gets Ace as the foundation of a rebuild.

I'm not super high on Ace so I think this would be an overpay for Ace and I'd pass.

From Kings POV, Id really like to try and clear the deck while keeping Keegan. He definitely has another level to his game and I want to see what that is. That said, we are so far away that I get it. If we could get Harper or Ace you have to do it.

From Philly, do they really want to keep chasing this Embiid window? Maxey - Grimes - Lavine - Keegan - Embiid. Honestly even if Embiid stays healthy, this team doesn't feel like it has enough. Id rather try and trade Embiid and start the build over with Maxey, Jared, Grimes, and Bailey

Philly probably wants to see McCain before signing up to pay LaVine.. Paul George is a worse contract, but LaVine isn’t really a good one and I don’t think you want to pay in order to have Maxey/McCain/LaVine and Grimes.. Least PG plays a position that won’t block what is likely hoped to be a core piece..

If you really like Keegan, the OP might not be bad value. But I just think Philly keeps Ace (or Harper) and feels like they have a really good young trio..

What if it was Keegan/DDR/Monk/9-12 but no Spurs pick?

Feel like you need a third team? But the value is probably better? I really like Monk though..

Think Philly (and every team) would just keep the dollar (top 5 pick) but would think if you find a home for Monk, getting Philly another upside asset than you’re likely looking at a competitive package if they are looking to do something like this?

Don’t think Philly would care about Demar, he’d probably help next season when they don’t have control of their pick and Joel likely missing a good amount of the season (hopefully has whatever surgery he needs)

Paul George is providing less production for a worse contract than lavine. I think philly is going to have to use the pick to get rid of his contract. Pull Keegan and the Spurs pick from the original deal and you are closer

Cmon man, the Sixers aren’t trading a top 2 pick in a very good draft to get rid of a contract at its low point. (They’re also not super motivated by that part of the deal—if they were just trying to reset and get out from contracts they wouldn’t also be trading the 19 year old super prospect.)

The whole premise of this deal is that Bailey is basically a #1 overall type value, those guys rarely ever get traded but the Sixers can’t really use him now—meaning the trade value’s going to be quite high.

I get that, but the trade acts like paul george isn't a net negative at this point. Getting Lavine is an upgrade for philly.

I don't have LaVine as an upgrade.

The main thing a team of Maxey/Embbid needs is a 3-4 stopper, rebounder, complimentary swing. Someone who can match up against Tatum's, and be third fiddle on offense. Given that description, who do you take of the two? This is especially worse if you are a big believer in McCain, as then its two undersized defensive questionable guards and Embiid in foul trouble and injured as the backup. A solid defensive forward that hopefully is a plus both sides of the ball is really the key.

I said a while ago I would make a huge offer for OG from Toronto because that is the template that was needed. George *should* fit that, although the injuries this season have been ... not so great. LaVine doesn't fit that.
