Who Wants Jonathan Kuminga?

Post#1 » by gswhoops » Wed Apr 16, 2025 4:20 pm

Kuminga has gotten two straight DNP-CDs in must win games, and Kerr has gotten increasingly agitated when asked about why JK isn't playing. It's been an up and down relationship, but unless something changes in the playoffs, it seems pretty clear that both Kerr and Kuminga are ready to go their separate ways.

Anyone interested in Kuminga and willing to offer something (anything) useful in a S&T?

I think the shine has worn off in a big way on Kuminga. He just isnt a smart basketball player. The comparison has been made before but he is a sort of poor mans Corey Maggette.

Maybe a S&T w/ CHI for Vucevic? But IDK if the Bulls would want money committed to both Kuminga and Pat.

Not expecting much TBH. Probably a TPE and a couple of 2nds or a heavily protected 1st.

Yeah he's a frustrating player to watch. Talent and athleticism oozing out of his ears, but can't and/or won't do the things he needs to in order to capitalize on it.

He is a RFA. He will have no value.

Typically you get draft assets for eating contracts in return. To get TPE you often have to pay the 2nd(s), not receive them. Team with capspace would just offer sheet him and dare you to match

Being RFA changes the calculus IMO...

TPE they can use to add another mid-sized contract? Or would it just be to cut salary?

Yep, I think 35M will put the Warriors at the 2nd Apron, and they would need to re-sign Looney and GPII + add depth, they will think long and hard about it.

Normally it would but in this case the relationship is really turmoil.. almost like ayton and phoenix and we saw how that worked out for phoenix

Dunleavy is a punk, he held up the Klay S&T to extort another 2nd from the Mavs, he will pull every dirty trick...

For fun? I was offering Dallas’ two firsts for Kuminga six months ago but a lot has changed..

Kuminga to Dallas
Gafford to GSW
Martin to any third team

Depending on the contract Kuminga gets, you send Powell (or Prosper) to the third/fourth team.. or GSW sends a vet min to that team.. just to get around BYC type restrictions?

Dallas isn’t spending over the first apron next season anyways.

Pistons already have multiple young players in his role who we’re also hoping learn how to shoot.

Adding Kuminga would really make it a mess.

Like most teams I think our interest would have been much higher a year ago. Our teams situation, depth chart, and Kuminga’s value have all changed a lot in that team.

No interest from this Utah fan.

Best I can imagine is a TPE or a workable overpaid bench player.

This also seems like a realistic possibility. I doubt we would match

Would take this deal in a nanosecond

Would Washington be interested in Kuminga? Smart's on a 1 year deal.

Ya I would be shocked if he returns a player of Gafford's caliber. This would be a dream for GSW.
