What is the value of Bam Adebayo, what would you offer?

Bam Adebayo. He's about to turn 28. His extension begins in the 26/27 season, extending from $52 million to $60 million in the 28/29 season. His greatest value lies in his excellent defense and ability to switch. He's also shooting three-pointers at an acceptable rate (albeit at a low rate).

I think Miami should be looking to add a low tier star, not trade their star. Especially, if they think Ware is going to develop.

They owe firsts in 2 of next 3 drafts and have good pieces on the roster.

Think Bam has a ton of value though. Dallas gets outbid imo pretty easily offering Lively, 2025 first, 2029 LAL first with Gafford/Klay as salary matching.

Again?!?! Didn't we just do this thread, like, a month ago?

We're not trading him. We have absolutely no incentive to. We don't own our own picks so why would we make ourselves worse? We're going to add, not subtract.

Expirings and 3-4 picks is the Utah offer.

Are you including your Top 6 pick this year?

I would wait until the lotto, and if it's #1 would prefer to draft Flagg, but if it's not #1 I'd be happy to include it.

I just don't see where Miami is going building around Bam and Herro. I think this conversation re: Bam becomes worth exploring if Miami conveys their pick to OKC this year. That would give Miami 3 summers and 2 drafts to rebuild. A big factor here is what does Miami get for Bam - a handful of high variance picks plus meaningful cap space makes the trade worthwhile, especially if they can flip something to CHA to get control of their 28 1st returned. A middling package then you run it back.

I just disagree that Miami has absolutely no incentive to trade Bam. I think they owe it to themselves to explore it, especially if they get off their 1st pick obligation this year.

I couldn't disagree more. We have enough to augment what we have with another good player while still maintaining a good talent level. Our core is young enough and experienced enough that the right piece makes us a much better team

If the Heat are going to be moving on from Bam the Nets might be able to be the third team in the deal and offer a replacement in Claxton or Sharpe with picks coming back.

Think the Heat are much more likely to be buyers (cough KD cough) than sellers this offseason.

I'd be open to the Celtics swapping Jaylen Brown for him depending on what else happened with the roster.

I certainly don't see that happening for either of our squads but I'd be open to it as long as we're keeping Ware.

Yeah it's just too big of a swap to imagine.

My thinking on the BOS side is that eventually they're going to do something with their payroll. I can imagine Porzingis being allowed to just expire after next season and they let him walk for financial savings (or re-sign him at a lower number depending on his market). I can also see him traded this offseason while they can still use that salary in a trade. I seriously doubt Jrue Holiday finishes his current deal with Boston. Pritchard and/or Hauser could be sent elsewhere in a salary dump deal because of the repeater tax multiple on their salaries saving BOS a ton of money. There's just so much in flux. Depending on the combination of trades they make above, I can see them having a bigger roster need for Bam than Jaylen Brown where a swap would make sense at some point down the line. At least on our end. And then conversely with MIA, depending on how they fill out their roster in the coming years it's possible they could have more of a need for Jaylen Brown as a scoring wing over Bam as a defensive anchor at the 5 or the 4 next to Ware if he locks down the 5 spot.
