Kings Try To Improve

Post#1 » by SNPA » Sat Apr 19, 2025 5:59 pm

It’s seeming clear that Sac will not be tearing it down but trying to add. Vivek will want to go from 40 to 50 wins.

While that may sound crazy, it’s Vivek. It’s also not wildly impossible. The Kings were plus three under Christie through all that turmoil.

Sac tear down trades aren’t happening. So what win now trades exist? Perry is going to be looking to use those draft picks from Fox.

Needs: PG/big wing - athleticism/length

What assets are you putting on the table.

The first round pick will likely go to Atlanta freeing up the entire first round pick arsenal save that San Antonio swap in 2031 plus the other two firsts we have 2027 spurs and 2031 wolves

I think it’s far more likely we will try to improve than blow up

Still have a lot of talent on paper and haven’t begun to try to augment with draft capital and the west is aging save for a few teams

Would rather Dallas just trade a first for Monk but having fun..

Murray, PJ, Naji (TPE) to Sac
Demar and Monk to Dallas
Klay, Hardy, 2026 Sac first, 2029 LAL first to NOP

Survive with LaVine, Ellis, Carter until Murray is healthy and then have a strong guard rotation while PJ, Murray, Naji is a nice forward group?

Actually play defense next season and see what that does. That’s what I think the goal should be, even if I got kind of lazy with the Murray idea. PJ and Naji for Monk and then trade picks for a two way guard that can start with LaVine…

While Dallas gets to start Monk, Christie, Demar, AD, Lively until Kyrie is healthy.. AD never has to play center when he doesn’t want to.

Value kind of seems ugly there

What about a Ja trade?

3/D forward and point guard should be top of the list right?

Don’t love Ja but has more ceiling than most of available targets in the Kings price range I would think.

Close, right idea. But the age factor is too much for a first IMO.

Sabonis isn’t getting moved unless he really starts acting up or an unbelievable offer, that makes than better arises.

I doubt Zach gets moved either, same caveats apply.

DDR/Monk/JV are the salary ballasts. I also think they’d hesitate to send DDR to a bad team, that’d look bad for future signings.

DDR/Monk/2 unprotected (Spurs 27/ Minny 31)

Or

Monk/JV/Terrance Davis/3 picks (Spurs/Minny/protected Sac 26)

???

Filler (DeRozan/Val/Laravia?), 2026 SAC 1st, 2028 SAC 1st for Lauri. Maybe Utah kicks back one of its less desirable remaining firsts? I'd be willing to bet against the Kings on those picks, even if they had a talented roster. It seems pretty inevitable that they will mismanage it, unfortunately.

DDR/JV/TD works salary wise. If Utah is open to moving DDR someplace looking to win…I’d do that trade.

Kings would have Spurs/Minny to augment those lost picks.

None of that is more interesting than riding it out with Ja unless there is a 3rd team selling a go to scorer to replace Ja. Unless Ja is asking out I doubt we take this kind of step back.

We'd definitely try to find a home for DeRozan (and Val).

Kings do that IMO. Throw MLE at Tyrus Jones.

Going away from Dallas..

FVV and Jabari to Sac
Demar, Cam, 2025 Phoenix first to Phoenix
Monk and KD to Phoenix

Delay the trade for the first to count as matching salary seems to make it legal? I like Monk too much, so probably need something from Sac to Houston?

Sac adds to their youth movement, but brings in an actual point guard and improves their defense with Sabonis?

Houston doesn't need Monk, and Jabari is not on the table for this deal.
