The kid's had a really good year, and I'm guessing he'll have several suitors, unless the NETS want him. There aren't many teams with the money to pay him. However, I imagine some "contenders" could offer him a starting spot (Magic/Mavs?), and of course the Cavs will want him back... What are your thoughts?

He seems like he should be comfortably in the MLE range, so I'd imagine he'll have a lot of suitors. Ty's a good player but I don't see a lot of teams wanting to offer him more than 4yrs/$60M

I think Brooklyn makes an offer that exceeds the MLE, but I'm in the minority.

I think Utah might, as well. Both teams need competent point guard play.

How do we feel about him as a full time starting point guard?

Kings desperately need a point guard, and he's got really good size. I doubt he wants to come to this dumpster fire but i'd hand him the MLE very easily.

I don't think he's impactful enough for BRK to throw big $$ at him, but he's better than MLE, which is a tricky spot. He'd (likely) be SOO good in Orl next to Suggs and would have, potentially, a much bigger role on a younger up and comer (not to mention no state taxes-not a huge thing, but a thing) and beautiful weather. CLE is an awesome young team, but his role will always be limited - which may be fine (ask Payton Pritchard) but you can only leave so much money and opportunity on the table....What limitations does CLE have in re-signing him and/or SnT?

It's not a bad thing when your team is so good that you have to keep shuffling bench players out because they end up outplaying their contracts. It shows good player analysis and good fiscal discipline. It's amazing to be so deep and so good and so young. Second only to OKC, who also sit on a boatload of frps and prospects like Topic who don't even have a locker yet. HOU stockpiling too - but when all those rookie extensions come due, tough decisions will have to be made. ORL trailing, but not by too much with Franz & Suggs hitting this summer and Paolo next....send him on down while we still have room

Unfortunately for Ty's CPA...that might work out well for CLE, even if just a one year deal.

there's also a part of me that thinks Jerome is in the right role and we shouldn't extrapolate too much. Tyus Jones has been the best backup PG in the league for years and should have stayed in that role. ORL overpaid to "steal" KCP, who is an excellent role player, but DEN was right not to match and keep him. Sometimes excellent role players are still meant to be role players.

I am always really wary of career backups who have breakout seasons. They almost always tend to be situational in that they do well in a certain system with a certain roster, but revert to the mean when that situation changes.

I think it makes a lot of sense for Cleveland to pay him something in the Isaiah Joe/Aaron Wiggins range, so ~4-years, $45-50M, and to have his salary decrease as the years go with potentially a team option in the final year. That's in line with Cole Anthony, Gabe Vincent, Mike Conley, TJ McConnell, and Lonzo Ball will make and more than Payton Pritchard makes.

It's hard to imagine any team offering him anything significantly above that amount.

He was great for us but IMO we have bigger fish to fry roster-wise than bringing in another small score-first guard. We've got $25M under the first apron right now though, so it's theoretically possible.

I would love for the Cavs to keep him at the league average exception and make him our Sean Livingston, but I suspect he gets paid.

Pistons should go after him, he'd be a fun PG when Cade is off the court

He probably won't ever get the chance to start at PG for a team that isn't truly awful. Maybe he takes this with a team option on year 2 or 3 and bets on himself.
