Keyonte George to Orlando, w/MIN

ORL trades: Gary Harris <or Cole Anthony>, 2025 DEN 1st (25)
in: Keyonte George
Get a young guard who can spread the court, at least hypothetically. George's ideal role seems to be as a 6th man sparkplug where he averaged 17/4/5 on 41/35/82 shooting. Still on his rookie deal, likely better than anyone you can draft at 25, but still needs to get more efficient. I think having real NBA players around him will help, and he is a good fit with both Black and Suggs.

UTA trades: Keyonte George, 2025 MIN 1st (21)
in: Gary Harris, 2025 DET 1st (17)
Utah has a lot of picks and there is a good chance they use their lottery pick on a guard. At #2 you are looking at Harper, and #3-#5 you are looking at Johnson, Fears, and Edgecomb as all clearly playing at the 1/2. Bailey is probably a 3 or a 4, so if that is your preferred pick this doesn't make a ton of sense and you'd just see what George can do with another year of development.

MIN trades: 2025 DET 1st (17)
in: 2025 MIN 1st (21), 2025 DEN 1st (25)
Minnesota's salary structure means two shots at cost-controlled roleplayers is probably better than one.

Think Orlando should aim higher with their assets. Not sure if george is much if any better than anthony. Their numbers are pretty similar

I highly approve of this trade.

Ive honeslty have not watched enough of George to gauge his value. However for that price, its worth a shot for us. Orlando needs all the wing scoring it can get.

TBH I think he is one of those guys that is a bit hard to gauge because when he plays well he plays really well, and when he plays poorly you want to gouge your eyes out. He's very young, he can score at volume, and he is a good FT shooter, so all of those indicators suggest that he should be better than a 34% three point shooter. He's also younger than some of the volume shooters that would be available at 25 (he would be a junior), e.g., Walter Clayton, Alex Karaban. So, I *think* I'd prefer George to prospects at 25 if a team is specifically looking for a shooter off the bench ... but I could see an argument to take the extra two years of rookie scale salary and/or pick BPA and punt on someone being ready to play now.

Think OP only makes sense if its Anthony instead of Harris. Harris is a TO and the pick 25 saves orlando bunch of tax money too on top. The savings from anthony would be worth it though

That makes a lot of sense. I'm fine having it be Anthony, he can just be a tank commander with Clarkson off the bench.

Sure for ORL…what’ll it take to get Kessler too?

I do not see a reasonable deal for Kessler with Orlando tbh.

I think George might do well in a lesser role.

I really like the OP for all three teams.

Would like it a lot more for Orlando if it were Cole Anthony than Harris.

Realistically, the OP and dropping Gary Harris takes care of Orlando’s tax problems for one more year.

Younger, cheaper, a little bit bigger...worth a shot. I wouldn't give any more and, honestly, I'd try to expand it to get Sexton too ...or, ideally Kessler.

Just trade for Sexton because there's no way George starts ahead of him on a team that's not rebuilding.

Minnesota's salary structure means two shots at cost-controlled roleplayers is probably better than one.

While I’m sure Tim Connelly would prefer this to be a draft night trade, so he would know who’s still on the draft board at #17, I imagine that he’d still say yes if he was required to do it tomorrow. Since he came up in the NBA through scouting, Connelly has a history of finding talent later in the draft, so this trade would double his chances of acquiring a good player.

It’s also a deal based on value. My calculations show that adding picks 21 and 25 should bring back pick 15. However, pick 15 is owned by OKC, who wouldn’t want to split up #15 for additional picks this year, and #16 is owned by ORL already. 17 is the first one to make sense, and it technically helps MIN slightly increase its power in this year’s draft.

Minnesota has pick 31 as well and I don't think the Wolves are looking to add 3 rookies in the 21-31 range of the draft. I could see the Wolves trading down from 17 if they think the guy they want would be available later, but the compensation would have to be a future pick.

Meh.

Orlando would be in position to draft a similar if not better PG prospect in this year’s draft with their own pick.

This is not to say this isn’t good value for Orlando, but I would want Orlando to use Cole’s expiring + 1st (or more) to go after a bigger fish.

If they choose the development route which George would be then just draft your guy at 16 and call it a day.

No thanks. We already have an inefficient and small PG that can't defend... it hasn't worked out well for us. I'd rather roll the dice on the 25th pick (or use it in another trade)
