Would Dame go back?

I kinda like this even though its big and messy and everyone else will hate it.
Bucks trade: Dame
Bucks get: Vucevic/Smith/Ball/White
Bulls trade: Vucevic/Smith/Ball/White
Bulls get: Simons/Thybulle/Williams III/#10
Blazers trade: Simons/Thybulle/Williams III/#10
Blazers get: Dame
Okay so Bucks could cut Chicago out, but I like the Bulls players for them quite a bit more.
Bulls sell high on White by chipping in some other useful players. Take back no bad money either. Helps a tank year and picks up a nice prospect.
Blazers were far more competitive than expected. They keep their young backcourt, still have two centers, and those 2-way wings they love. They bring in Dame with the idea of getting that young core playoff experience immediately.
Bucks downgrade from Dame to White, but add in two solid bigs, and if Ball can stay healthy another really nice guard. If BroLo re-signs, you probably look to flip Vuc for a wing shooter. But they should try something else.

Be a quick no from me for Portland. Not giving up a lottery pick, even a late one, just for "some playoff experience" with no upside to follow. Love Dame. Miss Dame. Still suspect he finishes his career here. But it'd have to be as a free agent/steep discount. Not a lotto pick and useful player or 3.

Wow I have 10 a small price to upgrade Simons to Dame and have Williams III and Thybulle not being useful players particularly. But if you think they are key rotation guys and value 10 way more highly than me, so be it. I thought Portland was honestly getting a steal and definitely wanted to figure out to add more value outgoing lol.

Value seems pretty fine and it does look like Portland has no real intention of rebuilding. They shouldnt do it as I dont see a team with current Dame as its best player having any real upside, but if they wanna compete for the play-in, this accomplishes that.

Love Dame. Would love to have him back when he’s not making 50+ million a year.
Can’t see Portland giving up #10 for him considering the stages of both team and player.

10 would definitely be a small price to upgrade Simons to Dame for contending (or even fringe contending) team.
Doesn’t make sense for the Blazers though.

What even is the window for Portland with Dame? It makes no sense. If he cant win with the Bucks what is he going to do here with the team we have?
At that point he is a glorified veteran mentor on the end of his career returning just for feel good story. You don't give up real assets for that... I would love for him to sign one last small contract with us just for a full circle thing, maybe even as a stepping stone into the world of coaching if he wants that after his playing days are done. I would even exchange a large meaningless expiring contract for him. I might even do Simons since he doesn't have much value anyways but that would be the absolute most we would consider offering.
But if the Bucks want the lottery pick - and I can understand why they would as Dame has several good years left for the right team (not Portland, but another team maybe) - then it is still too soon to contemplate a return to Portland.

I mean I thought Portland was going to be one of the very worst teams in the league this year. But seeing them be this competitive with a lot of really interesting pieces in place already, I think Dame makes them very competitive for a playoff spot and this deal costs them nobody they want to keep long-term. Yes a new deal for Sharpe kicks in the last year of Dame's huge deal, but Ayton's money falls off to pay for that and even if they want to retain Ayton to pair with Clingan, it won't be at 1/3 of his current number.
But oh well I'm higher on the potential of that Blazers team with a true offensive anchor I guess.

Hell no.
Not paying a lotto pick to pretend POR is a contender.

Por is trying to build a defensive identify, Dame like Simons kills that, That Dame era here is over and don't wan't to revisit it.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with the value. It’s the direction that doesn’t make sense. Portland is nowhere near contending. They have no business trading for a 35 yo. If you think the should make a trade to upgrade that’s fine but it should be someone on their timeline

Dame may do it, PORT via JRoy, may not like it MIL probably likes moving their bad move
The Bulls just aren't really going to tank a year
The Bad, They give up two centers and are left with Collins and a perpetually injured RWIII, that means they need to go find at least one more center
They give up two guards and get back two guards so they still have too many. They pay more money for a year for the two new guys than the two they're sending out and Simons is not expiring, Thybulle likely doesn't play much and picks up his option. So that sets up another tank year and they have Ayo and Huerter expiring
Who do they pick at #10 and #13 what position do they play and can they get any minutes?
Giddey Phillips
Matas Williams Terry
Collins RWIII
Simons Ayo Money for Tre Jones?
Huerter Thybulle maybe THT?
They just let go a popular assistant coach and you want to trade two well liked respected veterans in Ball and White to tank
This is a bad move for CHI and everybody else sees that

I think calling us competitive might be a stretch.
We had a 11-1 period in January, but many of those teams were either dysfunctional at that point (or the whole season) or missing key players. Our best win, imo, probably against Indiana.
Unfortunately that win record then seems to have led to a decision not to tank, which was incredibly foolish. I would hope we don't repeat the same mistake we did last time a Blazers team overperformed.
Love Dame, want to see Dame retire here, but not for taking on that contract ahead of 2026. After that offseason, sure.

Not on that contract for Dame. I also think he is a bad fit with Scoot. Giving up a lotto for those issues isn’t the right move forward. I would like Dame back eventually if the price is right.

He should go back to Portland
Durant should go back to OKC
Harden should go back to HOU
Lebron should go back to CLE
Kawhi should go back to SAS
All of this should be happening.... as free agents on smaller legacy deals in the 8~10m dollar range.
Expecting teams to trade back for these guys on exorbitant salaries and sending assets out....pass on that.

It was reported thaf Dame asked to come back once it became clear that he wasn't getting traded to the Heat. Cronin said it was no longer an option. I think that bridge is in cinders.

not sure the point of listing a bunch of ideas that have nothing to do with the OP in order to say this idea is bad. Blazer fans already handled it en masse lol.
Chalk this one up to a miss. Haven't even gotten to the Bucks fans which I thought would be the hardest sell but Chet let me know literally everyone else hates it for the Bulls as well.
Back to my tax deals where I belong. Thanks everyone for the feedback.

That was a spin his people put on a more detailed version of the conversation. After initially demanding out and sent to Miami, the Blazers started looking elsewhere, and Dame told Cronin he’d return to play with the Blazers until Blazers could workout a trade with Miami by mid-season, and Cronin said no to that.

Looking at this again, I think the trade makes much more sense cutting out the Bucks and sending that Bulls package to Portland. Though I suspect these teams make a modification to try to get Portland’s future pick back.

Looking at this again, no team is trading for Dame.
