Mavs/Pistons
MAVS
In: Ivey
Out: Washington
The Mavs land a high-potential youngster at a position of need...
PISTONS
In:PJ Washington
Out:Ivey
The PISTONS are very well covered at guard (I'm guessing they bring back Schroeder) and won't be able to give Ivey a starring role, so they get PJ Washington who in my opinion is a perfect fit, position of need, skill set and character of the player, young enough to be Cade's long-term partner...

For the pistons, the fit seems OK, but I don't think we punt on Ivey like this. PJ is a decent player, but he's a role player, not a "Cade's long term partner".

Re: Mavs/Pistons
Got to think Detroit could add a guy like PJ without having to trade Ivey. They would have to have decided we don't want to give him a 2nd contract to consider trading him in a deal like this.

Yeah, I think Ivey is a nice target for Dallas. And PJ is a good fit for Detroit. But there feels like a decent value gap there. Either Dallas needs to add or Det just uses different value to get PJ if they want.
Also kind of feel like Det might just keep hope in Thompson/Holland and think Harris is a good enough stopgap?

Would Dallas trade Lively for Ivey? Detroit should trade Duren and get a real starting center.
Duren to the Lakers.

what would you want from the lakers?
lively is not reliable enoguh health wise to be a real starting center playing 30+ mpg

He doesn't need to play 30+ mpg. 24mpg with Stew playing 24 mpg is fine.
The package they sent for Mark Williams + an extra first that they can trade next season.
I would use those assets get a PF, I'd add more assets if needed. Someone like Jovic or Jabari Smith Jr or something like that. PJ Washington would not be horrible, just not for Ivey.
Detroit need a starting center and a PF of the future.

Re: Mavs/Pistons
Are the Pistons really deep at guard? I wouldn't consider THJ, Schroder/Beasley important enough to move off a still decent upside bet in Ivey. Ausar and Holland are more 3/4s. For playoff teams even with Ivey coming back I would consider the Pistons actually thin at the guard position overall projected into the near future.... next 2-4 years.

Lakers actually can only do 30/32 swap and 31 1st + Knecht. Duren is not worth that much

Dallas has one too many bigs, but I hope they don’t trade Lively for Ivey..

Re: Mavs/Pistons
I assumed that Schroeder was added by Detroit as a half-season Ivey replacement that didn't have any long-term commitment. I wouldn't expect him to be brought back.
Though I guess they could change their mind and resign him, if they get a good enough trade offer for Ivey or they're worried about Ivey's 2nd contract - which IMO shouldn't be that high.

Re: Mavs/Pistons
PJ's solid, but Ivey, obviously, has unknown heights...it's a bet. I think DET could get more for him if they did decide to "rebalance" their roster and move Ivey.
I'd love him in ORL, Duren too.

I hope we bring Schroder back. He's a baller. I think we have room to play both him and Ivey, though.
