Why? If Suns are going to truly pivot off Durant, I don't see Ishiba doing so for a player and pick package. He's going to want another All-Star to play with Devin Booker and keep him happy. And who other then KAT fits the bill, as he's long maintained a strong friendship with Booker from their days at Kentucky. While some may not believe this is the direction they go, I think this is inline with the Ishbia's thought process thus far.

Why? i mean this is highly contingent on what happens to the Wolves in the playoffs but here they acquire Kevin Durant for what is really minimal costs. We have already heard their interest at the deadline and I'd have to assume it was for a similar package.

Why? Giannis prob wants to go to New York. The Knicks will be aggressive to acquire him. They can - if they push all their chips in. DDV back is nice too, and so is Portis. Knicks desperate to break their title drought roll out Brunson/DDV/OG/Portis/Giannis with Hart/Mitch and another ballhandler off the bench. They take back the heavily protected 27 and 29 picks the Suns picked up at the deadline to satisfy the Stephian rule.

Why? If they are resigned to trade Giannis, I imagine that they will be open to hearing where he wants to go. They don't have their pick this year so they take some veteran talent to keep them afloat in Randle and Bridges who are both eligible for contract extensions. Dillingham hanging around Dame as he rehabs is also a very interesting prosepct. And they end up with 3 first rounders and 2 swaps.

Conley goes to a 5th team to make this all CBA friendly for small compensation.

Minnesota shouldn't have interest in trading 3 rotation players and 2 valuable future assets for 37-year old Kevin Durant.
Mike Conley doesn't even end up on a roster.

Milwaukee is basically getting screwed by the Knicks sucking value.

This makes no sense for Minnesota. The Wolves aren't giving up 3 rotation players, a player picked #7 in the last draft, and the #17 in upcoming draft for a declining 37 year old Durant. I honestly think I'd rather have Randle at $31M over Durant at $55M.

Find it interesting the premise that the Wolves are getting KD for a "minimal price" but the reality of it is they are giving up everything they acquired in the KAT trade PLUS a top 10 pick in Dilly for KD but PHX is also giving value on top of KD to get KAT in this deal as constructed.

Yes values change over time but imo I don't think the values of KAT, Randle (assuming this trade has him opting-in) and DDV have changed significantly sine the deal, the piston's pick has likely increased in value since many thought it wouldn't convey and convert to seconds. Depending on how the playoffs pan out but the Wolves depth and defense were keys to the series win over the Lakers, sending out that depth to get KD will help the offense no doubt but not sure it nets a better roster especially if it costs them key role player outgoing in the trade and they don't have the ability to spend and retaining key free agents.

Absolutely not, this trade is terrible for the Bucks with only mediocre/bad assets coming our way. Bucks don’t have picks of their own and can’t tank, it’s better to just hold onto Giannis. Better to be mediocre with just Giannis than **** awful for the next decade.

The Knicks can't trade their 2026 1st round pick due to owning their 2027 pick to the Nets. The package as a whole is very underwhelming for Giannis being that there isn't a blue chip young prospect or a very valuable pick involved here. I still believe in Rob Dillingham, but he isn't as value as he once was when he got drafted. Mikal Bridges is on great contract and Randle is a very good player, but these shouldn't be main pieces in a Giannis trade.

I might be crazy, but I also don't think that Phoenix OWES 1sts in a Durant for Towns swap. Feels like they should be getting a 1st? Or even. But feels like KD is more valuable than KAT (though they're both valuable).

Towns had a good, healthy year and is under control for longer so i would give him the slight edge

Minimal costs?

I think there are a few key problems with the deal.
1) Trading Giannis is always going to be complicated. I've only taken a quick look at Milwaukee's future pick obligations but given how scattered about their picks and swaps seem to be, I'm not sure its really an option to try and get back control of their own drafts. So in any deal you'd probably be better off trying to get some younger players with potential who the team can grow with and hope 1 of them blows up. I guess you could try and send them high variance picks from another team, but that wouldn't necessarily be the direction I'd want to go.

Here, they get 2 vets on expiring deals, but we kinda know what each of them is already. The picks, or swaps, they do get here also seem to have really low upside. And then Dillingham. It just feels really short on value, and a very confusing direction. What are you left with? Randle, Bridges, Kuzma, Green, Dillingham, Lillard if/when he comes back? What are you building around there?

2) This seems to be assigning more value to KAT than I would agree with. He had a really good year. But the same things that were concerns in MN are a concern now. And we just saw the value he got moved for less than 12 months ago. I dont think its blown up so much since then. I think he's probably slightly more valuable than Durant, but I dont think its 2 1st more. And reasonable minds could still differ on who might have more value between the 2.

Its also weird that MN is now giving up what they got for KAT to get Durant, but is also adding more to it?

3) Related to 2 - the Knicks are taking A LOT of value out of this. If we just cancel out a few picks coming and going, its KAT, expiring Bridges, McBride, 1 pick and 1 swap for Giannis and 2 pretty OK value deals in DDV and Portis (this would have to be under the assumption he is picking up the PO, no?)

I dont think anyone but New York ends up doing this deal.
