Houston - Dallas - OKC

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Fri May 2, 2025 3:17 am

Dallas trade: Lively
Dallas receive: Topic, 24

OKC trade: Topic, 24, HOU 2026 top 4 protected 1st
OKC receive: 9

Houston trade 9
Houston receive: Lively, HOU 2026 top 4 protected 1st

Why for Dallas: add a playmaking prospect
Why for OKC: consolidate for a better prospect (ideally a 4?)
Why for Houston: add a great defensive complement to Sengun in their C rotation and get their pick back

I think Houston gets cut out here and OKC takes Lively. 2 more cheap years of a backup C then RFA to fully replace IH

And OKC currently has 15. Dont think theyre gonna draft 2 rookies to the team. If they wanna move up, they can package 15+24 and something less than Topic and a 2026 pick

dont think OKC wants lively to be 3rd string behind IH and Holmgren. I'm thinking they go for CMB/Queens/Bryant etc with a lotto pick instead

I've long wanted a center like Lively, however, Stephen Adams has been so freaking good. I have to imagine the organization will bring him back.

Do love getting the pick in 26 back, as we have none that year.

If Sengun gets traded, it might be an option.

I think Adams is more 3rd string material by next year.. his numbers have been trending the wrong way. definitely nice vet to have in locker room though

I could see the rationale. They can make Chet full time PF, keep Lively off the bench for 1 season and have 1 year of a cheap starting C the year after while letting IH and his 30 mill yearly contract walk. But even if they didnt want him and had their eye's set on 9, i think they just move up from 15. There's almost no way they carry 2 rookies with their roster crunch

So hard to evaluate this because we saw nothing of Topic. But let's say Dallas really likes him. If the goal of OKC is to move up, maybe this deal is simpler in 11 for Topic. Which feels like an overpay since he was picked a spot lower last year and guys who don't play don't have value go up but rather down. So then OKC is still adding value, but less than to get to 9.

Of course 11 lets 2 more guys fall off.

IDK. All comes down to what Dallas thinks of Topic and I don't see how we know.

I have. I dont put much stock into this series considering how small/meh the warriors C options are (esp at rebounding)

Warriors were the tenth best defensive rebounding team in the league, Draymond and Jimmy are great rebounders. Adams is a top 5 or so backup big in the league and more likely to leave Houston to start somewhere else than he is being third string next year. Season numbers skewed by how rough he was when he was getting back in shape. He's been awesome for majority of the season
His numbers are also just pretty good regardless? 10 and 15 per 36, they just kept his minutes load low all year. Had an absolutely absurd 19.2% offensive rebound rate

I think the only way this is possible is if Dallas is super high on topic (which I kinda doubt), 15 definitely does not get it done

Yes this works better without Dallas.

Lively isn't available for this, it would have been much cheaper to trade for Topic on draft day...

Not a bad deal for OKC . Would prefer to see this as a draft night trade though. After 7th is picked.
