GSW/Suns. Kuminga for Grayson Allen + pick.

Kuminga in a S&T for Grayson Allen + 2029 (low) FRP.

Why for the Warriors?

I think that the GSW will benefit from having ANOTHER deadly shooter on their roster with the idea on mind that Curry will rest and miss more games in the next couple of years.

With Hield and Allen on board they would have two Top 15 NBA 3p shooters on their roster (+ Steph).

Allen is a "win now" player that can help any contender. Kuminga isn't really needed on the Warriors with Butler and Moody on the roster for the next couple of years.

They get a 2029 FRP but has too many swaps so it will be presumably a late FRP pick.

Why for the Suns?

The Suns can get a "high risk/high reward" young player on a long term deal with upside. He lacks intangibles on his game but he is a physical specimen and can score the ball already. He needs to keep growing as a defender and his all-around game.

Kuminga can start at SF/PF for them and he will get more touches than on the Warriors.

Grayson Allen has $54M/ 3 years contract.

Kuminga would sign a similar contract. Something like $74M/4 years. $18.5M per year.

Thoughts?

Suns can't take player with S&T, they'd have to shed 40M in salary

Even if the Suns could get him, why would they even want to? It's like saying a team should trade for Markelle Fultz after his 4th year because he 'still has upside'. I'm not sure Kuminga has any value at all, especially not for the price he wants.

They can take him after some expected moves. No Micic, No Cody Williams, No Richards, possible buyout for Beal...

Well, the premise here is going for untapped potential but on a low risk trade and on a "fair" salary.

Kuminga expected more than $30M per year. In my proposal he is getting $18.5M, big difference.

Allen doesn't makes sense on the Suns next year, so why not get younger and more athletic using his contract and a low FRP?

Really, really hard to pull off...
W/o the unguaranteed it's stil 198 mil for 7 players...

Again...not that difficult because they can agree on a buyout with Beal and stretch it for 5 years.

Or they can receive less money on a KD trade. They will not operate as a 2nd apron team next year.

There is a limit on % of the cap to be dedicated to dead money, and it'll depend on Beal's buyout, but if you're convinced it's dosable, go ahead, I think it's good value for GS, they should do it even w/o the 1st.

That’s nice to hear it. I thought about the 1st because Allen had a down year, but he is healthy and a tremendous shooter so probably Allen for Kuminga is already fair enough.

If Allen had a down year, then Kuminga had an absolutely atrocious one. Maybe I'm one of the few who sees Allen as considerably more valuable than Kuminga. (And I couldn't stand the kid when he was in Utah.)

For the Warriors to have any leverage to negotiate a significantly positive return for Kuminga in a S&T, there will need to be a market of multiple teams bidding on him for a salary in excess of the MLE. (Nobody will S&T for him at sub MLE money when they can just sign him for the MLE.)

I'm not sure that scenario is going to exist. My guess is that somebody just signs him at the MLE, and then maybe turns it into a trade so that Golden State gets back a $15M TPE.

Yeah I'm not expecting much back for him at this point. A TPE or some useful players (even if slightly overpaid) would be all I'd ask for.

We can use the full MLE if we don't take back salary for him, so there's some upside to just letting him walk if the best offer we can get is useless salary filler.

Allen for Kuminga would be a nice trade for both teams IMO. No pick needed.

Doubt Warriors woud want Allen's contract at this point. Warriors are already at 170+ mils with 9 contracts this year and next, and I don't think they would like to go over the first apron for Allen.

I'm thinking the Warriors would be better off not using the full MLE. Using the full MLE hard caps them at the 1st apron and I think they are comfortable going over that if needed. They've got about $25M to spend on 6 open roster spots to stay below the 1st apron. Probably better to either match a reasonable offer on Kuminga or S&T him (for useful players) then resign GP & Looney and use the TMLE and vet mins to fill out the roster.

This seems like a reasonable path as well, depending on what the market for Looney and GP2 looks like. I don't think we match Kuminga regardless though, unless he signs a deal that's too cheap not to match. I think it's best for both parties to move on at this point.
