Portland Out: Deni Avdija
Portland In: GG Jackson, Brandon Clarke, 2026 MEM 1st (Unprotected), 2028 MEM 1st (Unprotected), 2029 1st (Swap, valuable Swap*)
Memphis Out: GG Jackson, Brandon Clarke, 2026 MEM 1st (Unprotected), 2028 MEM 1st (Unprotected) 2029 1st (Swap)
Memphis In: Deni Avdija
Portland sells high on Deni, acquiring a promising wing prospect and two unprotected 1st-round picks. G.G. Jackson has a lot of tools, but questions surrounding his mental fortitude, and Portland under Billups is the type of culture to bring the dog out of him.
Memphis adds a good starter who fits into their cap structure with Ja/Bane/JJJ eating most of the cap. Deni is signed to a team-friendly, long-term deal and provides Memphis a good 4th starter over the next 4 seasons as they continue to re-tool around the Ja/Bane/JJJ trio.
*2029 Swap allows Portland to swap the worst of POR/BOS/MIL 1sts with MEM 1st.

I dont put much value on GG and those picks are not going to be too good given a core of Ja / Bane / Deni / JJJ / Edey.
Realistically there are no indications PDX intends to sell high on Deni. They want to win now, for better or worse.

I don’t see why would Memphis want Avdija. Wells plays 3, JJJ and Aldama play 4.
And we can always bring back Mr. Anderson who has similar skills.
PS that price would be another issue

Blazers take the injury riddled players from Memphis to help them get better thus lowering the value of these picks. It is fully possible these picks are worse than what they gave up to get Deni.

A bunch of mystery boxes and long shots for a young, rising, known comodity. The exact opposite of where the Blazers should be going.

Where do you see Deni rising to?

Top 50 player at the least. Post all-star stats were: 23.3 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 5.2 APG, on percentages of 50.8, 42.7, 78.2. Which is why everyone is clammoring to trade for him. Aside from the high number of careless turnovers his game looked really solid on both sides of the ball.
