#4 on the block, find Charlotte a playmaker (or two)

Post#1 » by HornetJail » Tue May 13, 2025 1:02 am

Charlotte's biggest problem (aside from health) is lack of options who can make plays outside of LaMelo. Until Charlotte finds a secondary (or primary) playmaker, LaMelo is going to continue to be forced into the worst possible role for himself. He is not a heliocentric PG, and has always been at his best when he has another player or two to split ball handling duties with.

Brandon Miller is a scorer only, playmaking is not in his game yet. Miles Bridges' abilities there are inconsistent at best. Tre Mann was healthy for like 5 games last season and relying on him to be that guy is questionable. Nobody else on the team can be trusted to even dribble in a straight line let alone make plays.

It does not matter whether these players play PG, SG, SF, or PF, or even C... LaMelo, Miller, and even Bridges are more than flexible enough to play with any position. Just get Charlotte someone that can take pressure off of LaMelo and take over playmaking duties when he's not on the floor. That should be Charlotte's one and only goal with this asset.

So what's out there? Offer up. Only LaMelo and Miller off limits. Any Mark trades would need a legitimately great center coming back.

it would be pretty much a 50/50 split, which I like a lot for both players. get er done

And no Cam Johnson would be a laughable player for us to acquire with this pick

I feel like balancing is the issue. I have 4>Sabonis, but Im not sure how to fill the gap? Maybe a Salaun+??? for Murray swap?

i really don't think it would take that much. just take out our deadweight trash players as the salary filler and I'm happy, maybe a role player added?

Sabonis had a top-15 EPM for much of the season; significant drop off post-Fox trade. For a team desperate for maturity and talent like Charlotte, I've got Sabonis as the higher value option.

getting #7 back would be massive. If NOLA is on board, this goes above the Sabonis trade for me, but I don't think Zion goes for just 3 slots in the draft.

We'd definitely have to add a future pick (Dallas? Miami? one of our own?) and I still think that may be worth it.

That could work that Dallas pick doesn't look good with Flagg in the mix. Might as well cash in while we can lol

Yeah, maybe without the #7 included, and different players than Bridges.

Deni Avdija for 4.

I like him but i would rather kick the can down the road and take Bailey or Edgecomb. He was putting up Luka lite numbers the second half of the season at 6'9 and on the best value deal in the league. He gets you to the playoffs next year.

Lamelo
Miller
Deni
Bridges
Williams

Portland fans hate it but I think we need to tank for a star next year. This season was a complete waste not being good enough for the play and not getting a high pick because the blazers are ran by cheap morons.

Sabonis + monk
For
Nurkic, green, Grant Williams, mark williams, okogie, #4

Kings eat all the Charlotte bad contracts but get #4 and mark williams.
Charlotte gets a legit team for next year. Ball - Monk- Miller- bridges-sabonis. Monk had real chemistry with sabonis, and adds an extra playmaker for ball.

Wouldn't Edgecombe at #4 be ideal?

Deni had one full month averaging over 20ppg, he isn't worth the 4th pick. Maybe if Charlotte moved down to 7 or 8 and traded that pick, too (for Deni), it could make sense.

Take away the 7th pick and NO probably still wouldn't do It.

Sabonis makes sense, but SAC is anti tank. Jaylen Brown to SAC, Sabonis to CHA, #4 and filler salary to Boston? Celtics can get a high upside young player probably reset their cap sheet.

Brown might be hurt himself with upcoming knee surgery so might not make sense, but it seems like something SAC would do and CHA could want a guy like Sabonis.
