Dallas Out: PJ Washington
Dallas In: Simone Fontecchio / Marcus Sasser / Detroit 2026 1st (top 5 protected) / #37

They get a ton of value for an expiring PJ Washington and open space for Cooper Flagg.

Detroit Out: Simone Fontecchio / Marcus Sasser / Bobbi Klintman / Detroit 2026 1st (top 5 protected) / #37 / Detroit 2027 2nd / NYK 2028 2nd
Detroit In: PJ Washington / Royce O'Neale

They add 2 veteran wingers on short term deals that would fit perfectly without giving up any core piece and they can bring their 3 FAs back and stay under the LT if they want after this deal.

Phoenix Out: Royce O'Neale
Phoenix In: Bobbi Klintman / Detroit 2027 2nd / NYK 2028 2nd

They save a ton of money and they add a cheap project in Klintman and 2 2nds to replanish their picks without giving up anything super important for them.

Dallas needs to be taking these assets and getting a win-now guard.

Why not send Allen to Dallas?

PJ for Allen

Phoenix adds a large wing to compliment Booker and company

Dallas gets a solid 2-guard, POA defender and floor spacer

I got PJ worth more and Allen as not a need. They need playmaking, not another off ball guard

Seems like an overpay for PJ Washington.

I like him as a player but he doesn’t address Detroits biggest concerns.

Off-ball guards who are as good of shooters as Allen open up the floor. Running offense through Flagg and AD until Kyrie comes back isn't bad.

I agree if you specifically want on-ball creation that Allen isn't the target.

They have Christie and Klay for that role. Sure Allen is better and he would be nice to have, but he's not an actual need. And for a team that doesnt have many assets, they cant be using the few they have on non-needs

Not sure how a future pick from a playoff team is a ton of value for PJ Washington. But also this team is built around AD/Kyrie so taking a year off to get a rookie not ready to contribute for another 2-3 years seems wrong directionally.

Now get a team with a PG willing to take that future Detroit 1st and salary filler and okay. But as a straight trade I wouldn't think Dallas would have much interest. Even with the hard sell of a ton of value lol.

I don’t have PJ worth a first and an early second. So I’d take this and just find the guard myself. Utah should happily do Simone, Sasser, and Hardy with the Det first for Sexton and now Dallas has an early second.

I’d probably do it without the second but then I’d want the follow up trade lined up as part of this deal.

Seems good for Phoenix.

I was going to suggest Sexton.

Utah fans said they would be happy to welcome Simone back. Sasser is actually a good player just don't have a role in Detroit and that first should be ok for them, they'll likely tank again next year.

But it is quite a lot of value for an expiring Washington, that likely won't return to Dallas because he won't have a role there anymore (or he will have a much smaller role).

Dallas can get Sexton or someone else for that package easily imo.

PJ Washington have family in Detroit and his skillset is perfect for us, so I don't mind overpaying for him. Detroit needs a PF of the future badly.

Value is fair. It's just not a ton. He's not worth a ton so...

Yeah, Id want to know I could get that guard for sure. But the value seems right for one of those scoring guards (Coby, Sexton, etc)..

But I think there’s a Monk/PJ based trade to be had and personally would prefer that to the other guards

What would the Pistons need in return to make the 2026 FRP unprotected?

Weaver back as our GM. Teams are not dumb enough to trade unprotected 1sts nowadays.

I just don't see a Dallas-Sexton union. He's a bad defender and Nico can't look to look any more stupid as to bring in a bad defender after saying "Defense wins championships" over and over and over again. Dallas needs to find a better defender as creator. Not sure who is available but that's where they will look I'm sure.

I do think Monk is better there.

But I think if Nico needed a roster of defense, Kyrie would’ve been traded at same time as Luka… To me there’s no rationalizing the Luka trade.

From a Suns perspective that’s probably about the value the Suns would look at in a trade but I assume they want to use that salary for more. They will save cap with other moves.
