ORL has swap rights with PHX next year, but WAS has first swap rights with PHX...confusing? I finally got my brain around it and see that it could really be a nice chip in a busy summer of move(s). Basically, ORL will have the second best pick among WAS, PHX, and ORL next summer.
ORL's FO has finally said the right things about...
1. pivoting into a win-now mode with an agressive summer
2. conceding that trading some defense for offense was a necessary reality for this team
these are big pronouncements from a historically tight-lipped Jeff Weltman, whose agonizing patience and, imo, stubborn clinging to his vision of a defensive juggernaut with the offense running through two 6'10 guys, has finally conceded that, while effective, it's not a championship formula.
ORL needs a guard who can score and playmake, preferably with some outside shooting on top. My favorite example is probably Derrick White (who is also a good defender-which is like a cherry on top). Defense would be a bonus, but boosting the offense is the point of it all. ORL has a whole roster of good defenders and a great defensive coach to minimize the effect of one less than excellent defender.
ORL has some decent players with matching salary, some expiring, some very useful players like KCP and Goga Bitadze, who are kind of redundant on ORL.
That pick is almost guaranteed to be a lottery pick (maybe even a fairly high one)...who wants it and for which proven player?

Re: ORL's trade chip
Here’s the verbiage of the pick for whoever cares:
It seems as no matter what happens with Washington Orlando will have the right to swap their FRP with Phoenix in 2026.
If this was for 2025 Orlando would be able to swap their #16 with Phoenixs #10
Phoenix is about to lose Durant and Orlando should be a top-4 team pending health.
It’s a good gamble pick to invest in if I was the opposing team.
WAS has the right to swap its 2026 1st round pick, protected for selections 9-30, for PHX's 2026 1st round pick; ORL then has the right to swap its 2026 1st round pick for the less favorable of the PHX pick and the WAS pick if conveyable; MEM then has the right to swap its 2026 1st round pick for the least / less favorable of the PHX pick, the WAS pick if conveyable and the ORL pick and CHA will receive the least favorable of these; if the WAS pick is not conveyable, then the commitment to WAS will be lifted and ORL will instead have the right to swap its pick for the PHX pick (via PHX to CHA)

Re: ORL's trade chip
I initially disliked, but came around on your DWhite proposal on the Cs board. Trying to squeeze 16 instead of 25 out of you this year, though. I kicked back 28 to compensate a little. Feels fair due to the KCP contract and Horford hates him now, lol.
ORL: White, Hauser, 28 for WCJ, KCP, #16, ORL 26 FRP
BOS: Cam Johnson, WCJ, 16 for White, Hauser, 28
BKN: KCP for Cam Johnson, ORL 26 1st
ORL gets White and Hauser to improve their shooting drastically while keeping their D.
BOS saves money and resets without tearing down.
BKN gets a great high ceiling pick for next year for Cam.

That's too many picks...there's talent incoming too, those three players, with Ryan Dunn as well, instantly transforms PHX's defense...pull #16 out (ORL 25) -at least, maybe one more as well, imo...or, throw Dunn into the deal.
I don't have my slide rule handy, but that's going to be tough to make payroll work too.

I dont see how you are going to pull Booker out of Phoenix without giving up at least 1 premium asset/player. They are giving up the face of the franchise and the most valuable trade piece they have to get back Black, 16 and 25 this year, only a partial swap right returned (the rest remains outstanding) and 2 future 1sts that look a lot less attractive when you factor in Booker is signed through 28, Franz and Suggs longer, and Paolo would be under control through then as well? All the while they still owe a ton of other picks and swaps that prevent a true tank from working. That doesnt make any sense for them.
