Porzingis to CHI (W/ BRK)

BOS gives: Porzingis
BOS gets: Zach Collins
CHI gives: Jevon Carter, Zach Collins, 2nd round pick(s)
CHI gets: Porzingis
BRK gives: fake 2nd
BRK gets: G Jevon Carter, CHI 2nd round pick(s)
In their perpetual quest to win the play in, CHI pays some 2nds to turn their injury prone, unreliable center into a higher upside injury prone unreliable center. The extra couple million they take on here doesn't cause any luxury tax or apron logjam for them, so it's just an upside upgrade for a low cost.
Celtics get back a replacement for their Tatum-less year where they'll be drifting without any direction. Deal saves BOS $12.6M in salary which is about half what they need to clear to duck the 2nd apron, which they should be trying to do amidst the Tatum injury.
Nets get some draft capital for a modest expiring deal.

The Bulls have had Zach Collins for all of 2 months, hardly injured. This is nonsense leaving the Bulls with Vucevic and Porzingas, maybe bordering on dumb

Collins has been unreliable throughout his career much in the way Porzingis is and has way less upside. CHI is in an in between spot where they keep trying to compete for the play in, but they also aren't good enough to really make any additive trades. This is essentially a no cost upgrade to gamble on that upside. If Porzingis has a healthy-ish year, he's probably their 2nd best player and gives them a huge boost towards actually winning the play in next year. If he's out? Oh well, they're down a backup center and a 2nd round pick.
I think for a team that's firmly in the middle ground and can't justify giving up real assets to advance themselves, this is the kind of basically-for-free upside play I think they should take.

Any team with an expiring 20M useless center should do this deal, CHO with Nurk definitely does it.

Figure KP and Smith play all the center minutes when healthy. Vuc steps in when one is injured. Only an issue if Chicago drafts a center that they want to get rotation minutes as a rookie.
Bulls fans need to stop thinking of Vuc as important. He's EC filler at this point.

I think the Nets would be doing themselves a big disservice taking on small chunks of salary for second rounders. They have a monopoly on cap space, and I think there will be enough teams desperate to move bigger salary to avoid aprons or tax. If the Nets go the take on salary dumps for assets track, they need to prioritize the best assets potentially on the table.

Nobody thinks Vuc is important except for Billy Donovan, there's no reason he should've been playing 33 minutes a game for the last half a decade.
