It needs to an unprotected pick with some possible upside to consider. It is a bunch of pretty unappealing stuff and the only good asset is too protected and distant.

That aside, I would not be open to helping Phoenix now that we have their 2031 1st. I do hope for the sake of fans they dig their way out, but from our perspective the best case scenario is one in which Durant either isn't moved because Phoenix doesn't like any of the possible returns, or he is parted out for a bunch of roleplayers and Phoenix is left with no future picks and a narrow path to relevance post Durant.

This trade essentially empties out the Suns trade options outside of Grayson Allen. The 2031 pick is still very far away. If the Suns were to trade Allen and get another asset for the Jazz, what would you want and would that help your 2031 hesitancy?

I mean fair but what else would you want? I put this trade up after seeing some Heat reports about their willingness to give Ware and multiple pics. I could absolutely be wrong, like everyone else here, but it’s not like this is so far out there it can be dismissed out of hand.

If Phoenix can get an unprotected team from a team like Sacramento and would be willing to route that to Utah, then I would be open to something, but the centerpiece of the deal has to be something appealing.

The 2029 FRP is the only asset with any real upside and it's can't be a top-5 pick. What can you acquire thats better than that?

You could switch the destinations of Jaquez and Ware. That would at least be the start of a conversation.

If we couldn't get something sooner, yah, that is probably fair. I don't know that I'd do it because Miami has the same quality the Lakers do of just being able to reload through free agency, but then again, I think we have to trade Lauri given where we are as an organization.

I think the Jazz would say NO. They would need to receive better or more draft capital for Markannen.

I know many still don't get it, so I try to explain it again, Heat payroll after this:

Total $177,403,700 (With Herro's extra incentives of 2.5m which count against the tax apron).
This is before they can resign Davion, now they have only ~10m under the luxury tax, which is at $187,897,000.
They can't resign Davion and have to fill out the roster with min. contract scrubs and they gave up almost all of their assets here too.

The only way this deal gets done and makes sense for them, is if it's Wiggins/Terry going out, they can keep Duncan so they can waive him (to give them additional 10m room to resign Davion).

Also I don't like giving up Ware/Jaquez + 2 FRP picks for Durant, frankly I think Jimmy <-> Durant straight up is what I valued Durant at.
I get if some value him higher, I just don't, the offer I consider feasable for the Heat is Wiggins/Terry + Jaquez or Jovic and a FRP + swap. It would not make the roster construction impossible and leave them in a place, where they can resign Davion and reasonably fill out the roster. I don't think Suns need to do this deal at all, but this is what the offer is from my point of view and it's a take it or leave it situation.
