Kings - Celtics

Kings get:
Sam Hauser
28th Overall Draft Pick
32nd Overall Draft Pick

Celtics get:
42nd Overall Draft Pick

Celtics drop in the second and use a late first to dump a ton of money when you consider the tax implications without impacting the core. I understand the first also has value, but they do save the salary there as well.

Kings add a reasonably priced bench player and receive pick value for their troubles.

Might play out this way, but I think BOS can get a small asset back rather than pay. He's a great value on that deal.
My guess is it happens in FA, not draft timeframe. Cs look to just get a future 2nd and no $ back, or a low future first and some (lesser) salary back that the Cs have to deal with or pay a late 2nd to dump.

I think the Celtics try to get more creative that this to ditch salary. If they do have to buy their way out I think that happens well after the draft.

I don't know that Boston moves him and gets any real value back, but I feel like they can move him cheaper than this. Like just give him away for free. Shouldn't cost a first and a good 2nd imo.

A few teams would probably just absorb Hauser into their MLE or a TPE of some sort for free, so this seems kinda a steep price for Boston. They're better off using that 28th pick to deal Holiday's contract.

Hauser is one of the best shooters in the league who isn't a liability defensively in a legit forward sized body signed long term for less than the MLE. It's always tough to exactly quantify how much salary savings are worth, but I don't think they'd struggle to move him for free into some teams TPE or MLE. I think the scenario of them having to pay to dump him is out of the question, it's a matter of if they get nothing back or something relatively small like some 2nds. I have his contract as positive overall.

Maybe take out 28 and just do the 32 for 42 swap?

It seems that some fans are seeing Boston's financial situation and thinking let's take advantage of them. If Boston traded Hauser with no picks to the Kings in exchange for that 2nd, Sac is already taking advantage. Sacramento would be getting a desirable player for virtually nothing and that would be a win for them. There is no justification for Boston to send any picks here.

This accomplishes the goal of resetting the repeater in 2026/27. I think Hauser has positive value though even if his salary is absorbed completely.
Hauser is a high level rotation player in his prime making much less than mid level locked in for 4.
I gotta think there are better offers out there .
For this deal…I think to make it fair, remove the second rounders and sac needs to add a future first. Lotto protected is probably fine. Can they trade their 2029 first?
Sac would still get a great player for free basically. Just swap a future pick for a pick in a great draft. They can put lotto protections on it to reduce the variance and risk.
