Nets Trade:
Cam Johnson
#26
#27
Spurs Trade:
Harrison Barnes

Why for the Nets?
Brooklyn acquires another top 20 pick to help their rebuild.
Why for the Spurs?
The Spurs add much needed shooting to their starting lineup.

Seems light for the Nets, no?

I think the Nets could probably keep both of their late 1sts. But yeah I like the idea of this for sure.

Very light for the Nets. Who cares about pick #14? It is likely a 3-6 player draft.

I expect the Nets then to just pass at 8 and not take on the bad rookie contract of a player taken that high that obviously cannot help them.

Nets trade #8 for 3 2nds. 3 Players > 1 Player of equivalence

I strongly disagree, there's probably 5/6 players with obvious star upside (Flagg, Harper, Bailey, Tre Johnson, VJ Edgecombe) but I like a lot of the options even up to the late teens, they just have more risks (Queen, Fears, Jakucionis, Demin, Traore, etc) or less perceived upside but very good chances of being high level role playerrs (Knueppel, Maluach, Sorber, Carter Bryant, Rasheer Flemming, McNeely, Nique Clifford, Lendeborg, etc).
To be fair value isn't bad for the Spurs, but I probably take my chances with the 14th pick because I feel better about Spurs chances of addressing the shooting wing position later on via free agency / trade, than I do about having another chance at a player of this caliber with a future pick (they'll be progressively worse for a while). And lets say I'm less anxious than most and believe Spurs contention window doesn't really kick off for a couple of years. (the exception to this would be if the Spurs land Giannis, then you absolutely have to do it). If Spurs hit this pick (like I said, I like the available prospects quite a bit) they'll take a massive leap forward after this draft.

Well, they can still do business after this, right? (I think the Nets should keep at least one of their late picks here). I imagine a follow-up trade of 8+14+26 (or 27) to the 76ers for the 3rd. Would the 76ers turn this down? I think in their situation, they shouldn't...

I like Cam but the inclusion of Barnes here makes it a no for me. If it was just Johnson and no picks for 14 I'd probably do it. Barnes just came off the best shooting year of his career and is by far our best three point shooter. He also played in all 82 games. The Spurs aren't looking to just dump him

You going to elaborate more than just being rude or what? What exactly is so outlandish about what I said?

Point being its a bad deal for the Nets.
Then we have someone saying they would rather have Harrison Barnes who is 3 years away from retiring than a fresh CamJo with no tread on his legs who is about to enter his prime instead?
Let's be real here. 18.8 PPG and 3 years younger or 12.3 PPG and 3 years older? The rest is similar. CamJo with the 9% points better FT and HB with 3$ points better 3PG%.
The Spurs want younger players to play with Fox and Wemby. They know Barnes does not have much left over the 5 year span they plan on contending starting next year.

Love the fit of cam johnson on the spurs. It would seem that one way or another they have plenty of assets to make it work. Pick 14, vassell, barnes, johnson, etc.

It doesn't look like the Spurs have the cap space to take Cam outright, but based on what the Nets current strategy appears to be, I doubt replacing Barnes with different expiring contracts is a deal breaker.
Cam and 28 for different expirings and 14?

What exactly is Brooklyn looking for in a trade for Cameron Johnson. Expirings? Picks? Youth? Veterans? Ready now players?
If Brooklyn is trying to compete and has their sights on star players why not just keep Johnson?
Just confused by their fan bases responses regarding needs (it seems to flip/flop often) and just the teams perceived overall direction.

I think they tank next year, acquire as many 1st rounders as possible and go star hunting in the 2026 off season.

I like this idea. Brooklyn might be overpaying a bit.

Cam + 28 for Branham, Wesley (both have QOs in '27) plus the 14th seems doable. Just don't tender QO's to them and they essentially becoming expiring contracts

The trade doesn't work on fanspo, even if Champagnie is included, so
