DEN/CHI

Post#1 » by Mavrelous » Fri May 16, 2025 9:10 am

Brutal PO for the Nuggets, they have an elite 4-man unit, but any bench minutes get destroyed, they need some depth and some financial flexibility.
MPJ contract is the one to break, and overpaid elite shooter but has failed them too many times when they needed him.
CHI has a long dead contract in PatWill, and some nice pieces.

MPJ, Nnaji and Saric for PatWill, Vuc and Lonzo

PatWill gives them backup to Aaron Gordon, they'd hope Jokic can unlock something with his size.
Vuc gives them backup to Jokic and tradable expiring in case of a 2026 deadline deal
Ball gives them guard depth behind Murray/Braun and also tradable expiring for a deadline deal.

For Chicgo
Gives them elite shooter, the spacing of White, Huerter, Giddey, MPJ and Smith lineup can be amazing, they cut 2 years off PatWill deal.

This feels like another step back for Denver. Lonzo's health is less reliable than MPJ's, Denver has plenty of not actually good bench options cheaper than Pat Williams and $21M is a lot for a guy who tops out at 8 mpg in the playoffs.

I like the idea and the destination of MPJ.. I think the Bulls should send Ayo (useful player)/P.Will and J.Smith..
Vuc as a 10/15 minute player seems like a waste of talent..
then do the Bulls send Vuc to Boston for KP..? and Lonzo to the Lakers for Vandervilt?..

Bulls
KP/Collins
Buzelis/Vandervilt
MPJ/#12(C.Bryant?)
White/Huerter
Giddey/Tre Jones

Denver
Jokic/Holmes
Gordon/J.Smith
P.Williams/Strawther
Brawn/Ayo
Murray/Russ

It is a stepback, but they will be facing tough decisions soon, Braun needs extension and they are 202 mils in 27 with no means to upgrade the roster.
They need depth and cap flexibility, as they have very limited draft capital...

Ayo can't shoot, Lonzo is better theoretically, but mainly he's 10M expiring which can be flipped mid season to fill a need.
Vando doesn't belong to PO rotation, and they can't afford more dead weight.

In my opinion, they need defense and athleticism (Ayo gives you that) and he has some value (at least more than Vuc, something I think the Bulls should provide, since Williams' contract is worse than Porter's, plus he's a much worse player). I also think Ayo's shooting percentages would improve in Denver, given the difference between playing with Jokic and the playmakers he's played with on the Bulls.
Maybe they send Huerter (+P.Williams/J.Smith), which gives him more flexibility (since he has to eat Williams' super-long contract)

Air traffic control at O'Hare closes down for incoming from DEN. Everybody wants the Bulls to take on a veteran with a huge contract somehow ignoring that they had to work so hard to move DeRozan and Lavine. If MPJ couldn't step up and help Jokic, Gordon and Murray with big how is he going to help Giddey, White and Buzelis advance to the playoffs?

I can't imagine Vucevic being the least bit inspired to come off the bench for 14 minutes a game. Ball missed the end of the season with a wrist injury, right after he singed an extension. The Bulls had too many guards even with Jones, Dosunmu and Ball injured the last 20+ games so I honestly can't say that Lonzo couldn't have played but after his 3 year comeback they didn't just decide to give hm a long off season to comeback full speed.

I think the Bulls wait with their 6 expiring contacts until next summer, if some great offer comes their way they can jump but there's no pressure settle for MPJ and sure not an aging Porzingas.

lol @ this, Denver wants talent upgrade or sallary relief, you somehow managed to give them talent downgrade and worse contracts. P Will has to be top 5 worst contract in the league.

MPJ isnt worth his contract but when healthy he gives you elite shooting at least. PWill is basicly 90 million Zeke Nnaji.

The money is very similar, the difference is the structure, Bulls get the better player, Nuggets get the cap relief in 27.
MPJ is 26, hardly a veteran.
