Cavs / Thunder

Post#1 » by JJ_PR » Sat May 17, 2025 12:36 am

Cavs get: Jalen Williams, Isaiah Hartenstein, Ousmane Dieng and 15th pick
Thunder get: Donovan Mitchell

Why?
Cavs turn Mitchell into a solid package, players who are good fits.
Thunder get a star backcourt partner for SGA.

I think Cleveland stops being good enough offensively to be a serious contender.

I don't think OKC wants to trade JWill/Hart for Mitchell either, but Cleveland can't afford this big of an offensive hit. I do not believe Garland or JWill is ready to anchor a championship offense.

OKC says no.

As a Cavs fan I would say no. Mitchell is too good.

Sometimes the 'better' player is the worse fit. Jalen is also much younger and cheaper.

I don't think we're a serious contender with the current roster. Also, scoring is the least of my concerns. Garland is a 20 ppg scorer. Mobley is as well. All we need is 3&D players, we can probably survive without Mitchell's scoring.

Williams is averaging 16ppg against Denver. He is shooting 34% from the floor and 21% from 3. Williams isn't a better "fit".

It's one series. Mitchell just lost to the Pacers; OKC is basically in the real NBA finals right now.
