Mavs have to move more salaries, at very best they will be 1st apron team, so they have to match 100% of the incoming salary.
With that being said, I dont like it for the Mavs, Gafford instead of PJ and we've got a deal.

Yeah, this is Gafford in value, not PJ.

Don't like it for Boston. Jrue is somewhat positive while Thompson is negative. PJ needs a new contract so this package is a year away from being much more expensive than Jrue.

But then Klay expires after 2026 and Boston is back to saving a lot of money… or getting to pay PJ I. His prime versus Jrue, who will likely continue to decline.

I do think Dallas should be interested in Jrue. But the package is Gafford and Klay to me.

But with PJs pay raise those 2 will combine for what, 50 mil? He's on a good contract next year but there's no Tatum so what's the point? There's no money savings here for Boston nor any on court improvement. Don't get me wrong, I like PJ as a player well enough.

I'm fine with Boston having no interest here. Dallas shouldn't either. Jrue's contract means he needs to come at a cheaper price in terms of players/assets or Dallas needs to look elsewhere.

I mean, I think Boston does the OP and then just trades PJ for value or Klay for cap savings.

The value is too good to turn down.

Only responded to the financials because it adds salary one year, but saves money 2 years of Jrue’s deal.

Would SAC be interested in using their MLE or Huerter TPE on Naji Marshall or Caleb Martin? I think a three team deal where BOS gets Klay and Marshall or Martin go to SAC and they dump Powell/small contracts on other teams to avoid a hard cap makes sense.

Dallas gets an awesome roster fit for both with and without Kyrie team and they offset the first two years of the deal. Taking the third year is the value they pay for the on court upgrade now and by the time that year comes they’ll have Flagg as a young star and picks to trade so they can conveniently use Jrue as salary filler in a deal for a younger co star/role players.

Yea the thought of Jrue/Kyrie/Flagg/Lively/AD sounds great, until you factor in one of them being hurt and one of them being a rook.

Maybe I’m going this thing I sometimes do where undervalue my teams guys to try and not look biased, but I think even Gafford is too much. I think it’s Klay plus one of Martin/Marshall (plus filler to avoid hard cap) so you offset the first two years of Jrue pretty much entirely. Dallas takes on the third year so they get the on court upgrade for “free” outside of that.

Yeah, I think that Klay, Martin, minor salary is Dallas’ initial offer, hoping Boston is real desperate...

Some team should offer more than just taking Jrue’s third season and Dallas should be interested enough to make a better offer.. but that better offer shouldn’t include PJ.

I do really like a Dallas offseason where “Gafford, Klay, Martin, Hardy” go out and Jrue and a useful/cheap play making guard come back. Just not sure who to look at there.

Yep some of the Value for Boston is resetting the repeater tax in 2026/27. They need to do this.

I’d sign on to Klay and Gafford for Jrue.
I am unsure the demand for Holiday. It will be interesting to see the actual trade when it happens.

BOS/DAL is not a naturally good trade partner, as both teams looking for lowering the salary. A 3rd team needs to be involved.

How about getting out of the 2nd apron first?
They need 20m to get out of it and then another 13m to get under the tax!

Who is going to absorb all these contracts without sending anything back?
If they want out of the tax you're looking at trading 3 out of JB/White/KP/Jrue probably.

Getting under the tax is not realistic for next year. For 26/27 it requires them to shed about 12m in Salary for that year.

If it’s 33 mil..

It could really be done as…

Gafford to Atl (TPE)
Klay+Powell to LAL
Maxi+Vincent+Future atl 2nd(s) (maybe Boston 2nd as well) to Chicago or Washington
Jrue to Dallas
Fake 2nds to Boston

Though

Then dump Hauser into any teams MLE.

Someone will take him if it’s completely free (someone would probably give a 2nd or two for him) but just say Sac wants a shooter for free, they have a big TPE. Or Det. Or Charlotte.
