UTA/PHI

UTA out: Markkanen, Hendricks, #21, 25 2nd rounder and second worst of the 27 1sts (top 7 protected)
UTA in: PG, Oubre, and #3
PHI out: PG, Oubre, and #3
PHI in: Markkanen, Hendricks, #21, 25 2nd rounder, and top 7 protected 27 1st
Why for Utah: Get another top 5 pick and prepare to tank.
Why for Philly: Dump PG, get a good star next to Embiid and Maxey, and try and see what happens with a recent lotto pick.

PG has a similar, and arguably better season than Lauri on a down year last year. Why would Philly give up the #3 as well?

Utah was actively tanking and Philly was not… We didn’t have a starting PG so his numbers dipped and the team had him working on other areas of his game. Also, there is that contract PG is on and he’s 35 so…

Not sure if you noticed, but Sixers also had a disaster season due to injury issues and roster turnover leading a down year for PG. Lauri makes a little less per year, but also has an extra year.
The narrative that the Sixers are so desperate to dump PG is false that they would attach #3 is false and I think people overestimate the demise of PG. He is still one of the top players that shoots a high volumes of 3s at a good percentage that rebounds, plays good defense, and doesn't dominate the ball.
The Sixers would probably consider it if Utah attached #5, but I don't think that would be considered by Utah.
PG isn't going anywhere until at least the middle of the season when they have a good idea where Embiid is.

I also don't see this for Philly. Even if Hendricks is the value that is meant to bridge the gap, he'd just be behind Lauri, so it doesn't really work.

The Sixers were 4-29 over their last 33 games. I'm not sure what to tell you if you didn't see them tanking.

I think it's an interesting deal. I agree with zaz about the narrative around the Sixers valuing dumping PG, but Lauri is a legit good player in his prime.
I think I have a harder time seeing the Jazz doing this than the other way around.

Utah has to pick a direction since they missed out on Flagg. Two bites at the Apple is necessary at this point. Markkanen fits Maxeys timeline. Embiid can always be flipped in the near future for a retool.

I disagree. The future pick is the bridge. Is Ace Bailey supposed to sit behind PG? This trade is fitting timelines.

I think I’d be willing to add something to PG/3 for Lauri/5.
And I’d bet next offseason UTA could flip George for a profit, too.

I need more for Utah. That’s not enough at the end of the day. I’m not sure PG13 has positive value anymore.

What would you add? Im not convinced George can be flipped, but I can see the value here being addressed.

What about Miami?
MIA gets PG
PHI get Lauri and 5
UTA gets Wiggins, Rozier, and 3

That’s not adding value to Utah.

LAL gets Kessler, George, and Gordon
PHI gets Kleber, Markkanen, and 5
UTA gets Knecht, Hachimura, Finney-Smith, Vincent, Drummond, 3, protection removed from 27 owed LAL 1st, and top 10 protected 31 LAL 1st

Still no. It’s worse. Utah shouldn’t have to include #5 in this.

I think Philly would cut Utah out.

That is atrocious for Utah. I would not do that trade if you took 5 AND Lauri out of the deal.
