Hou receives a real PG that can score and is one of the best distributers. Fits very well with sengun.
Atl ends their trae era and gets two young players with potential and a big expiring contract.

Re: Hou/Atl
The 10th pick in this year draft + 2 more 1st round picks and Reed Shepperd is going to be starting point to any sort negotiations between the Rockets/Hawks for Trae Young. This package as is simply isn't good for the Hawks. They're better off losing him for nothing in Free Agency than to give him away to the Rockets basically for free.

I think Reed + #10 should bridge a lot of the value, maybe an additional future 1st as well.

Re: Hou/Atl
OP is treating Trae at best as a neutral contract value wise. I just don't think Atlanta is going to value Trae the same way. #10 and Sheppard as mentioned above is likely a good enough offer to at least be entertained from Atlanta's side. If I was Houston I think I would give it another season to see how my guys progress before bringing in a guy like Trae that is going to be very ball dominate.

For that price I wouldn't be mad at it, but I think Atlanta would want more draft compensation than I'd feel comfortable with giving out. That being said, I don't watch enough of Trae Young's games to discern why he isn't more successful despite having gawdy counting stats. My impression of him isn't as high as other players I'd like for Houston to target as their big swing move.

Well Trae/Dejounte pairing didn’t work but hawks retooled around a really young team around Trae (he was the hawks oldest starter) plus losing Jalen Johnson half way through the year didn’t help. But healthy hawks probably make the playoffs and their starting 5 average age was younger then Auburns.

I can see pick 10 additionally and an additional first rounder but two more picks and Sheppard seems to much tbh.
If they get impatient with jalen green, they could go for it, as they really need a good distributor, which vanvleet isnt. Garland or Trae comes to mind, i am not sure garland is on the market though, hence this trade

Trae for
Sheppard, Whitmore, Jalen Green, 10, and maybe a future pick (second best 2029 dal/hou/phx).
Wouldn’t be able to play Trae and Vleet together much but sure have pg leadership. Fills the scoring hole.
For Atl, not sure why they consider dealing Trae but this is probably maximum return. Picks 10, 13, 22 get a lot of cheap depth with chance to get lucky. Or, trade up.

I go back and forth on Trae, I am TY-Curious.....
I think I would offer FVV or Green, Sheppard and #10, assuming a reasonable extension is in place.

Not the typical Ime guy to be fair, but they have enough defense to hide his deficencies.
On offense he is the exact thing they need+they definitely have enough assets to get him without gutting their team.
I love his fit with sengun.

I don't even like Trae, and I still think this is horrible for the Hawks.
