So I keep seeing Heat posters talking about waiving Duncan Robinson and just paying out his gtd money. So let's do better.
Robinson/#20 to Atlanta
Niang/#22 to Miami
Bufkin to any team that wants to take him on. If he's still worth a 2nd then send that to Atlanta.
Hawks move up in the draft for taking on some salary, get a great spacer for the bench for a year, have plenty of room under tax
Heat save more money than just waiving Robinson while getting back a bench shooter.
3rd team takes a flier on a young guard.

I mean, maybe? It seems kinda silly to move back to save $1.4 million and I'm not sure how much he'd figure into the rotation. I mean, with Robinson we have Herro, Wiggins, Highsmith, Larsson, and Jacquez. I feel like those minutes are already spoken for.

More than $1.4M. There is the small difference in the gtd $$ in the pick slots, plus the empty roster charge that's removed.
but yeah if you see zero value in Niang, its not much for sure.

My thinking was he'd have a role for a team deleting one of the best shooters. Plus he's tradable salary rather than dead. And you might get the same prospect.
But yeah not meant to be a home run for Miami, more of an infield hit that you beat out.

How about:
Robinson for Fontecchio/Sasser?
Miami reduces salary, possible backup PG
Det gets a more seasoned scorer

Hawks add ~$8 mil to their payroll to move up just 2 spots which also reduces the available space under the luxury tax to with more roster slots to fill.
Niang's enough of a spacer off the bench at $8 mil - similar percentages to Robinson.

He can be waived, and you're only on the hook for $9.9 million. You move up two spots in the draft to take on $1.4 million extra money (plus a roster penalty).
