Jazz get: Kyle Anderson, two 2nds from Boston
Jazz give: $9.2m of taxpayer MLE
Why for Utah: Eat Kyle Anderson's small contract for picks, hopefully SloMo can return to form slightly to be moved for an expiring at the deadline. Probably helps with watchability as well as they need more passers.
Wizards get: Duncan Robinson
Wizards give: Richaun Holmes
Why for Washington: Upgrade the roster and add more shooting to avoid being just so terrible once again and to avoid poisoning the young kids with losing.
Hornets get: Richaun Holmes, two 2nds from Boston
Hornets give: $13.3m of taxpayer MLE
Why for Charlotte: Trade space for picks, Holmes can probably help them a bit too.
Heat get: Jrue Holiday
Heat give: Duncan Robinson, Kyle Anderson
Why for Miami: Jrue is a great philosophical fit who fills a major position of need and probably helps them escape the play-in and maybe make the 2nd round, all without digging even deeper into pick debt. This obviously causes financial complications in the future though.
Celtics get: $32.4m in cap saving
Celtics give: Jrue Holiday, 4 seconds.
Get off Jrue's contract and save tons of money for this season.

That'd be a no from the Heat.
Make it Terry + Anderson and it might be closer to a trade.
Duncan can be waived to save 10m, which is what I suspect the Heat will do to create more space under the tax, while Terry is effectively dead cap space for them.

What a goofy explanation for the Wizards. Duncan Robinson does nothing for the win/loss column. He’s worthless.

I think adding a real shooter is going to be more helpful than a backup center. Maybe they can get bribed with a 2nd if worst comes to worst.

Robinson is definitely more helpful than Holmes. And Robinson can only be partially gtd so you could cut him and it would be like saving money on Holmes and gaining a roster spot. its fine if unexciting for Washington.
Would like this more with Anderson to Charlotte and Holmes to Utah. Utah is shamelessly tanking again by most accounts, Charlotte is going to try and be more competitive. So give Charlotte the useful player and Utah the salary line to just buy out.

My only reason as to why I gave Anderson to Utah instead of Charlotte is just because I don't know if they would be comfortable taking on two years of salary, but if they are, yes, switching those teams would make a lot of sense.

Anderson is effectively an expiring, his last year is not guaranteed

Ahh, did not know that.

I'm in the absolutely not category for Miami. That's a lot of money to a declining old point guard and, call me crazy, but I prefer to learn from history (see Lowry, Kyle) rather than repeat it.
No interest in Jrue Holiday from this Heat fan. I'd prefer to resign Davyion Mitchell and Dru Smith.

If I don't remember wrong, Holmes has only 250k guaranteed. Shouldn't WAS get some sort of draft compensation?

Holmes is practically unguaranteed...

Yeah your description in OP is unnecessarily rude towards the Wiz. You could have said it nicer like you did here. You can always edit OP before more Wiz fans see it.

I think the Lowry acquisition gets a bit of an unfair rep. He played a key role in Miami securing the #1 seed that year and while injuries limited him in the 2022 playoffs, he was still a meaningful contributor during the 2023 run.
You could argue that bringing in more vets like Lowry at that time might’ve helped them push all the way. The real misstep, in my opinion, was trading his expiring deal for Terry to chase a window that was already closed. And of course, no one could’ve predicted how Terry would fall off a cliff this season.

Still. Anytime you get the opportunity to add $20M to next year's payroll for Duncan Robinson, you do it

Wiz have a Duncan Robinson that gets limited minutes already in Corey Kispert.

Feels like this is kind of overly complicated.
BOS gets: Rozier
MIA gets: Holiday
3rd team gets: SloMo
Fill in picks as needed.
BOS doesn't get the immediate savings of the OP, but they still shed years 2 and 3 of Jrue's deal. At the very least this sets them up to be comfortably below the luxury tax next year (26-27) with room to spare. They'd still be close to $20M over the 2nd apron this year but Rozier/Porzingis would be big expiring deals they can try to deal down. Like I said, there's even wiggle room to take back some money next year so they can leverage that into deals too if it helps more facilitate immediate savings.

No, it has a fair rep. Dude never fit in in Miami. Conditioning was never where we needed it and he refused to change that. That's not even the issue though. We watched him decline and never got the bang for the buck we wanted. Well, we're already seeing it work Holiday. Why would we jump in, now? I'm not helping Boston get off the hook unless we're getting something substantial for it. Jrue is going to be an albatross. No thank you

Not seeing any incentive for Washington.
For one, the team doesn't want to win in 2025/6. They need to stay below #8 to keep their first round pick. Second, I'm not sure Robinson even would help with winning if that was the goal. The Wizards are loaded with young players at the 2/3. They have "shooters" in Kispert, Poole, George, Carrington, etc. Even Sarr is a "shooter" in the sense that he spaces the floor even if his %s leave something to be desired. Holmes is the only center on the team besides Sarr (who can play minutes at the 4), has almost no money guaranteed, and by all accounts is a good vet. Robinson may be the "better" player but someone has to play minutes at the 5. Why on earth would the Wizards want to pay Duncan Robinson $20m to either sit on the bench or take minutes from younger players?
