Bucks get Barnes, RJ, #9 (drafted), TOR26FRP, TOR28FRP, TOR30FRP, TOR32FRP
Raptors get Giannis
Raptors go all in with IQ, Dick, BI, Giannis, Poeltl, they'd bring back Boucher and have access to full MLE ($14m) and BAE ($5m) to go hunting on free agent market.
Bucks get a couple young starters, pick 9 and some nice future unprotected picks. Similar to the Gobert trade except a much better pick drafted (9 vs 22) and actual decent players (Barnes+RJ) for Giannis vs filler for Gobert.

This is a easy yes if Giannis signs a extension, giving up that much future draft capital for a guy with one more year after this (assuming he decides his player option) could be disastrous even if it's Giannis. That Toronto team would be desperate to get a quality backup C and I think another guard.
I am sure a few teams could beat that offer like Houston, OKC and San Antonio or Dallas.

Raptors say yes, but this team isn't better than teams Giannis couldn't win with in a weaker conference, so I think Giannis will have a say in this. Bucks will suck after this with no control over their draft, Barnes is a nice player, but not a franchise cornerstone, so it's a no from the Bucks.

Not amazing but not a team that sucks. They'd have space to add one of the many FA PGs with the DPE.

Lillard is out for the year, and who knows how/if he comes back, BroLo is 37, he's not bothering another year with these cats. GTJ is a FA, KPJ will likely opt out also, there is no one who can score on here...

Giannis isn't asking for a trade to the Raptors.

Do you know about Masai’s history with Giannis’s family?
For the merits of the OP trade: I think Giannis would be awesome, but that’s a LOT of picks, very far into the future. Raps will think twice about trading away capital into the 2030s.

Giannis is great but Toronto shouldn’t pay that price. They are a rebuilding team and Giannis will be joining a team potentially worse than his current one. If anything, he should be aiming to join the spurs, thunder, mavericks or rockets ( who have enough young players, talent and draft capital to absorb the loss of picks and players).

Does that somehow make the Raptors more likely to win a championship?

Yeah that post-trade Bucks team is pretty azz. You're realistically looking at a starting lineup like:
Portis Barnes Kuzma RJ Jakucionis (#9 pick)
with basically no one of note off the bench. That's a worse supporting cast than Barnes has in Toronto right now, and that wasn't even good enough to get to the play-in.
I'd honestly be inclined to flip Barnes for more rebuilding assets and go full tank mode (Philly for PG + 3 + McCain + future firsts?). In for a penny, in for a pound.

His statement (Giannis avoiding Toronto) is what I was addressing, by pointing out a very unique relationship with Toronto FO.
Now about your question: does it make Toronto make more likely to win?
That’s a second round team, most likely. Pretty talented starting lineup, but I don’t think it’s a championship team.

The point I was trying (poorly, as it turns out) to make is that I think Giannis is going to prioritize going somewhere he can compete for rings over off-court connections.

No. But I do think that relationships matter. I wouldn't have Toronto on my short list for sure, but I do think Masai gives them maybe an in some other teams in similar positions might not have.

the "giannis has a close relationship with masai" story was invented by a toronto sports talk radio host and has been repeated as gospel all over the internet ever since
also a big fat no on this deal lol

Direct quote from Giannis:
"Masai helped me and my family during the years that I've been in the league. "He's an unbelievable guy, a great GM, built a great team and after this series is over, if he wants to golf or something, we can definitely do that."
Sounds made up by a talk show host though....

they do not have any actual personal relationship

I mean I just looked at the first google result, but that quote doesn't say anything about just a visa. But even if its only that despite what Giannis actually says, I'd say it can't hurt Toronto.

Masai helped Giannis’s family migrate from Nigeria to Greece.
