DEN adds BOS depth

Denver has a tradeable 2031 first and they may find a way to pair with MPJ and add a bigger piece. But assuming they can't do that and land a marque name, Nuggets still need to open roster spots, add reliable and playoff-experienced shooting and also acquire a younger cost-controlled backup for Jokic. This draft is deep (assuming everyone stays in) and Denver gets #28 to add a cost-controlled young guy also.

This trade assumes a third team taking KP (or just previous Porzingis trade), getting the Celtics under the apron and allowing them to take back more money.

Denver trades:
Zeke Nnaji
Dario Saric
DaRon Holmes
Hunter Tyson
Unprotected DEN 2031 1st

Celtics trade:
Sam Hauser
Neemias Queta
Xavier Tillman
#28 in 2025 draft

For Celtics:
They get a look at Daron Holmes, who missed the year. They take back Saric and Nnaji and lean into a mini-tank with JT out. They get the aforementoned Denver '31 first, unprotected as Boston is giving a first in 2025 and needs some upside to take back this much bad money for a pick six yrs out.

This is really a make no sense trade for both teams. Also Boston can't aggregate players in a trade due to 2nd apron.

I don’t think Boston is in position to take bad money on for a pick 6 years out. They just aren’t the right team here.

By aggregating and taking back more money the get hard capped at the first apron. I don’t think the Celtics can do this legally even if they moved Porzingis for nothing.

Don’t understand sneaking in Holmes here.

An unprotected pick that far out for depth pieces is a big enough ask right?

This was the first thing I noticed as well. I wouldn’t do an unprotected pick in this offer but i definitely also wouldn’t throw in Holmes with/without it.

In this deal C's send a 2025 1st, Daron trying to even out the value.

But thinking about it further, perhaps neither team would be interested in a deal like this.

I got Holmes>Boston #28. Not by a huge margin due to the missed year but I would still take Holmes rather easily here.

Then the rest of this is Denver salary and unprotected 1st for Hauser. I am sorry but Hauser who played 13.5 minutes in the playoffs and average 3.5 points is not the asset Boston fans really want him to be. He is on a neutral contract for his performance. Maybe you squeeze out a 2nd if someone takes him into space, but that is the high end of his trade value.

I don’t think Denver does it without Holmes. But I don’t think Boston gets to do a quarters for a dollar trade, and then ask for a quarter back..
