LAL in: Onyeka Okongwu
ATL in: Maxi Kleber, Dalton Knecht, 2031 LAL FRP, 2028 pick swap

LAL trade the Mark Williams package for a better and more versatile center on a relatively inexpensive contract.

ATL cashes in on Okongwu for a young prospect and draft assets.

Seems like an overpay for OO.

Hawks pass.
Just like LAL needs a Center, so does the Hawks even more.
"Okongwu also fits perfectly with what the Hawks are trying to build, a team of athletic defenders around Trae Young. Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher, Dyson Daniels and Okongwu all fit this mold, and moving on from their young center wouldn’t make much sense."

I like OO (I think the same about Claxton), but he's too small for the Western Conference giants (Hartestein/Adams/Zubac/Jokic/Gobert/Edey/Davis/Lively... ).

Atlanta isn't moving their starting center who ended up averaging 15/10 when starting for a future and Knecht.

Atlanta is likely looking to upgrade their center position, not get rid of it entirely.

Given how the landscape of the West looks centerwise, as Astaleugo pointed out, OO may be best served as a 4 who can play the 5. Getting a floor spacing big next to him would be a smart move. Unfortunately LAL doesn’t have the capital/resources to go do this trade and finding a solid 3/D big.

If I were them I’d just sign the other Hawks center, Capela, in free agency and call it good.

I agree, but also an overpay

If we signed say Brook Lopez and then got OO, I would like that or a guy who can play the 4/5

John Collins also comes to mind, Naz Reid if Minny wants to move on for some reason, JJJ is minny is looking to shake things up and wants Reaves/3rd team who wants Reaves

Still need a POA defender as well

I disagree with this assessment, but this is the kind of deal that the Lakers should be pursuing.
