The Bucks regain control over there destiny by getting control of all of their future first rounders enabling a proper rebuild. They also get two ending contracts enabling them to later parlay them or cap-space into more picks.

The Pelicans trade a guy who's future is uncertain and locked in for three more years for a healthy bucket-getter in Simons who can slot in ahead of Simons as starting PG. By 2029 Giannis will be 35 and his contract will have ended in 2028 or 2027 if he opts out so they are taking the chance on those Miami picks having more value than the current pick swap options they control in 26, 27 and 28

Portland trades:

Ayton
Simons
2028 and 2030 pick swap rights to Milwaukee extinguised
Least favorable of Milwaukee, Boston and Portland's 2029 1sts to Milwaukee

Portland receives:

Bam
Murray
#20

Portland gives the Bucks control over their future destiny and locks up their cap-space for Bam Adebayo who will slot-in alongside Clingan at PF in a big-ball line-up and at center in a small-ball line-up. Murray is a major risk of never contributing at a high level again and the 20 is partial payment for taking on his contract.

If MIL trades GA and rebuilds (and they should), they should try to get those picks and swaps in a 3 team deal. No other way to do that without moving GA as they have nothing else of value.

BAm isn't nearly this valuable. And the Bucks just get so little back here. Yikes.

Just an atrocious return for Giannis. "The right to suck for 5-years" isn't the centerpiece of a trade for a Giannis type asset just because you can rationalize them getting their one unprotected pick (2027) and three pick swaps (that may not even convey) back. Not even getting their 2029 1st outright back, on top of bad expiring salary filler (Ayton/Robinson) and zero prospects or picks in addition to this? Should be obvious to everyone that this isn't close to a serious offer.

I don't understand why folks are trying to pre-trade for the Bucks' picks back. Just give Milwaukee the assets and let THEM decided if they want to pay a premium for their own picks. Despite how excited we were about Brooklyn actually doing that, it's uncommon, not a requirement.

I don't think the bucks say yes to this even if he sits out all next season and tweets about how badly he wants to be in Miami once an hour

I disagree on Miami. They're trading 3 firsts and Bam, who has plenty of value himself. It's too good for Miami, but not way too good, of that makes sense. I feel like Portland is absolutely stealing value in this trade. They give up one first, deals which are incredibly uncertain in the first place, and get a pick back while drastically upgrading their front court.

Haven’t looked at the money, but this seems like an obvious yes for Portland.

I thought it was bad for every team.

I understand why you don't like this one. I get it. It's not sexy and it's short on perceived value (because you're basically just getting your picks back). You can and will do better, but if you're trading Giannis, you're tanking. You may not do it on purpose, but it's pretty much gonna happen...

Sure thing, boss. Milwaukee is literally getting pieces in return for Giannis, so I am not sure I understand the comment.
