CHI / ATL / BOS

CHI gives: Jevon Carter, Jalen Smith, Ayo Dosunmu, future 2nd
CHI gets: Porzingis

Why? They clear some backcourt log jam and shed the last year of Smith's deal, which are nice little ancillary gains. CHI is a team always trying for the playoffs and if healthy, Porzingis is probably their best player. Can't ever rely on him being healthy, but that's why they get him for basically nothing here.

ATL gives: nothing
MIL gets: Ayo Dosunmu (taken into MLE or TPE), future CHI 2nd

Why? They have tax room and plenty of TPE/MLE room. Ayo is a fit on the court where they could use some bench scoring and expiring deal so no commitment. He is coming off shoulder surgery though, hence getting a pick.

BOS gives: Porzinigis
BOS gets: Jevon Carter, Jalen Smith

Why? Straight salary dump. It is what it is. Smith is at least worth a look on a team that will need lots of minutes filled at the 5.

For anyone interested in the full context of this for BOS, I propose this in conjunction with this thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2460300

BOS would be looking to dump Hauser into a TPE (maybe that gets them 1 second?), dump Carter from this trade into a TPE/cap space/MLE by attaching some future 2nds and then giving away JVal into someone's TPE/MLE (I believe could be done for no cost to BOS?). If they made those three moves, they duck the tax altogether this year, not just the 2nd apron.

I think both Ayo and Jalen smith have positive trade value and don't think getting off of them is any kind of little ancillary gains. Likely not first value but a couple 2nds each would likely be available. Plus with their pick only top 8 protected next year I foresee see Chicago finally giving in to the tank next season and no need for KP.
