The appeal is obvious for NOLA- they build around Zion now; but also have a foothold in two different timelines in case Zion's and Embiid's injuries catch up to them.
Philly only does it if they want to blow it up while keeping Paul George rather than Embiid or Maxey.

This might have some legs if Embiid literally never plays basketball again
investigate Adam Silver

Re: Philly blows it up but keeps George
I don't get the logic of this at all for Philly. Direction and value both seem awful. Giving up the best young player (by far) and best pick in the deal feels like a bad way to rebuild.
I guess the assumption here is that Embiid is 100% done based on the valuation... And yet you've got him starting and being a key cog to a really expensive New Orleans team trying to compete.

What kind of team would trade their players including, their one young all-star, and top pick for worse players and picks?

Why not just simplify this?
Missi, Jones, McCollum, and 7 for Embiid and 3
Morey would never do this, but seems reasonable to me.

youngcrev suggested a simplified trade in a Paul George trade I had posted, of Herb + 7 for 3 + Oubre, which i like better probably. Wonder if that is too steep for Morey?

Sixers have to send out more salary to prevent a 1st apron hard cap.
I'd be ok with Oubre, Council, Gordon, Drummond and 3 for Jones, Hawkins, and 7.
