Zion to ATL

Post#1 » by nolaPELSfan » Mon May 26, 2025 5:58 am

Zion for Jalen Johnson, #13 & Georges Niang.

Trae/Dyson/Risacher/Zion/Okongwu
add pick 22

CJ/Herb/Murphy/Jalen/Missi
add picks 7 & 13

Atlanta hopes for success with Zion as a 3rd star to Trae & Risacher who can play like a 1st option in limited games at the very least, and is more likely to have sucess in the east. They know Trae can carry well if Zion misses maintenance time and just need him ready for the playoffs.

NOLA does it to move on from Zion for a very good starter and a backup at his same position, as well as a late lotto pick.

You need to add the reasoning for why New Orleans does the trade too.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

So I assume this trade is premised on Nico Harrison becoming the Hawks GM?

I am not sure Atlanta does Zion for JJ straight up. JJ is younger, has better range, is a better rebounder, and is a better defender. Zion's offensive game is good, but is it worth losing out on the rest?

Probably in a vacuum but maybe not with their roster.

I'm quite optimistic and impressed by the Hawks rebuild since their 2021 ECF appearance.
