dont think that resulting kings roster is worth paying tax for. Dont think they want Klay when they have monk/lavine/holiday/ellis/carter penciled in for guard minutes. Still have gaping holes left to fill in front court.

I feel like these three teams line up so well.

SAC and DAL probably the two best on court fits for Jrue.

PJ Washington fits SAC like a glove.

Martin/Marshall are good fits on SAC.

Monk fits DAL really well, and if that did happen then Hardy fits SAC really well.

JVal is a good stop gap for BOS if they move Porzingis (don't think he fits in DAL or SAC, so has to be separate deal)

If DAL wants relatively high level perimeter scoring for next to nothing cost assets wise than DDR is an option.

SAC has TPE/MLE and enough tax wiggle room to help BOS/DAL apron math in deals.

I love the idea of Jrue/Monk to DAL, PJ/Martin/Hardy to SAC, Klay to BOS.

DAL gets a great starting backcourt while Kyrie is out and a terrific 3-man rotation when he's back. SAC gets much needed forward depth and a suitable bench scoring guard. BOS gets much needed financial savings. Needs tinkering to make math work, but love the bones of that.

Klay isn't a Shooting Guard anymore. More of a decent-sized Wing or an undersized 4. Jrue is also unique in that his biggest strength defensively is his switchability and strength at guarding the 3 and smaller 4's.

Really good all around trade imo. I do agree with Godaaycurse that Sac ends up with more Salary than they really want here. Hard capped at the first Apron after the trade and very little room to maneuver. They get compensated for that with 28, but maybe pushing Klay and 28 to Brooklyn makes it better….then you have Brooklyn with another pick they don’t really need in this draft? IDK. .
I like the bones of this though.

I agree. Here is the fix.

Boston Out: Jrue Holiday
Boston In: Jonas Valanciunas, Klay Thompson

Dallas Out: Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall
Dallas In: DeMar DeRozan, 2026 CHA 2nd, CHA 2027 2nd

Sacramento Out: DeMar DeRozan, Jonas Valanciunas, 2026 CHA 2nd, 2027 CHA 2nd
Sacramento In: Jrue Holiday, Naji Marshall (Taken into Kevin Huerter TPE)

Boston sends out no picks and instead just gets Val/Klay.
Dallas see's no changes from the original.
Sacramento doesn't get #28 anymore

That probably is easier to pull off.
Boston can then look to move Klay in another deal.

Klay + #28 for Niang

Pretty confident Boston incoming out of salary reduction mode without taking a deal that bad.

How’s SAC dumping DDR and also landing Jrue and a draft pick?

Most people here have Jrue as neutral at best, most slightly negative. If you disagree with this premise, then you disagree with the totality of this deal.

I think DeRozan is in the same board, slightly worse player owed less. For reference, Jrue is owed 104.4 Million over 3 years while DDR is owed 50.6 Million over 2 years. Jrue is owed twice as much as DDR is on their current contracts.

Sacramento is also taking on Klay's salary and sending out 2 good 2nds.

I’d think they wouldn’t panic and send a pick. They could trade him for two smaller contracts and maybe stretch one. The Celtics really have until the trade deadline of 2027 to duck the tax. They’d obviously like to cut some salary this coming year, but I really think they will work through this process without shedding first round picks

Then just send Klay to Atlanta for nothing

Seems pretty clear the order for Boston is moving Porzingis, and quite likely Hauser, and less likely Jrue. And yes I don’t worry about the consensus here much regarding Boston’s players

Not a fan of Sac sending out more picks (even if they are seconds) for more older role players. Not sure why being the oldest 1-2 barbeque team in the NBA makes sense.

You're getting younger in this deal
