Just going to start with a little long-term crow eating. I thought the Sabonis/Halliburton trade was good for both. I take that back for the Kings. Oh Sabonis did what they hoped he do--he made them competitive for the first time in forever. But damn....

I'm a Sabonis fan, but I looove Halliburton (not the Dick Cheney version).

If there's truth to the rumor that Philly was offered Hali for Simmons and turned it down.....
Morey's gotta take that one to the grave

Oh if we are playing wild what-ifs. Dallas tried desperately to trade Brunson plus to get Halliburton. Now Dallas has neither.... But some team picking before the Kings could have had Brunson. Or the Kings themselves

Hard to process this one as bad without hindsight. Simmons was out all year in 2022, the year we traded for Haliburton. Was this deal proposed earlier, like in 2021?
If so, Simmons was a 15/7/7 Point Guard who was a DPOY candidate and just 24 years old.
Sabonis never had the potential to be the building block of a perennial contender, and, even in 2021 and 2022, was seen as a player who had limitations.

If we are playing what-ifs, if Jordan played in the 1998 Semi-Finals as he did in the 1998 Finals, the Pacers would have won the championship in 1998.

When Morey held out for Harden, who was really the only guy he wanted to trade Simmons for; Sacto switched gears and sent Hali for Sabonis.

Neubeck has said again and again that he had multiple sources in real time he trusts who insist he was AND wasn’t on the table. We’ll never know.

Yea rumor was Dallas offered Brunson, 18th and 31st pick that year. None of those 3 guys are on the Mavs anymore

That's Morey revisionist history IMO.
We know he was on the table because he got dealt for Sabonis. And there was the report the Hali's agent told him he was going to Philly.
But you're right, he'll take that to the grave and will never fully admit it either way.

The Lakers are rumored to like B. Lopez to provide depth at center. Vincent for Lopez ST..? Would the BUCKS accept this (assuming Giannis stays) or would they prefer him to leave for free?

Is there a Garland to Houston deal that makes sense?

The problem is that all their cheap talent is about to be paid. I can still see some kind of Tari/one of the PHX 1sts/Sheppard, though Cleveland might think its not enough (and Houston might wanna keep their powder dry for a bigger fish)

Lopez is a TMLE guy.
He is, but if Milwaukee is keeping Giannis, Lopez might be able to squeeze out a big 1 year deal out of them (like 1/15 or something) that pays him above market value and keeps the Bucks options open

Do you think the Bucks are interested in this? (They probably overpay him a little and he's also a TMLE player.) Vincent plays hard and shoots the 3 well, nothing special, but I think he fits in pretty well with GA and the Bucks need guards...

They can use Vincent, but a pg can be found in the FA minimum market (Paul/Tyus/Dlo all might come for the min if there's a real opportunity and if Giannis declares he's staying). PG seems easier for them to solve for next year than big man depth, and while Brolo has fallen off, he's still much better than any min signing they'd get.
Tho it all changes obv if Giannis wants out.

Ignoring the second apron restrictions for a moment...
Is Kevin Durant for Rudy Gobert & Rob Dillingham balanced?
If not, what needs to be added and to which side?

I'm just wondering, why am I hearing and reading rumors about Allen from the Cavs trades online? Why would Cavs trade Allen epsecially since his on a long contract or is that the reason for the Cavs to do it?
