Kings out: Deorzan, JVal, Devin Carter, 2026 Kings 1st Unprotected, 27 Spurs 1st, 2031 worst of Spurs/Kings 1st, 2031 Minnesota 1st, 2 2nds
Kings in: Lamelo Ball, Jaime Jaquez Jr, Mark Williams

Why for Sac? Get the best point guard possible and hope he elevates in a change of scenery. Much younger roster.
Ball - Keon - LaVine - Keegan - Sabonis
Monk - Jaquez - LaRavia* - Mark Williams

Charlotte out: Lamelo Ball, Mark Williams
Charlotte in: Devin Carter, Kleber, Rozier, Knecht, 2026 Kings 1st Unprotected, 27 Spurs 1st, 2028 Kings 1st, 2031 Minnesota 1st

Why for Charlotte? They get a fresh clean start. Draft Edgecombe and get a ton of future 1sts from Sac.
Core - Edgecombe, Miller, Salaun, Knecht, Carter, Nick Smith Jr

Lakers out: Kleber, Knecht
Lakers in: JVal, 26 Charlotte 2nd + 27 Kings 2nd
Upgrade the center spot, and pick up 2 2nds to use to continue upgrading the roster. JVal isn't the final answer at center, but he's the first piece.

Miami out: Rozier, JJJ
Miami in: Demar
Give this current roster two years before moving onto free agency 2027 plans.

miami's FA plan is in 2026, not 2027 (herro need new contract then).

Pretty awful for LA.

So I guess Wiggins and Kyle are redundant? What do you think their value would be?

I think the plan is to let Herro and Wiggins come off the books, then chase two stars. If they can't get two stars, then they get 1 and resign Herro. 2027 FA plan looks better imo. Adding Donovan to Herro and Bam isn't a title team. Adding Donovan + AD or KAT (even if they miss on the top guys) to Bam certainly could be.

I thought it was actually a little too generous. Guess its opinion on Knecht. Upgrading from Kleber to JVal + adding 2 decent 2nds felt like solid value.

Do you have him worth a late lotto 1st or something?

We've seen how the NBA values Jonas V, which is neutral to slightly-positive value. He doesn't really hold any real value in terms of trade value. Kleber plus a pair of SRPs seems about right for what it should take to get him. The problem is the Lakers lack very many tangible assets to begin with, and you're dealing one of the very few they have for a future albeit high-upside SRP and a middling-SRP. Even disregarding the fact that those two picks might be worth a very, very late FRP, it's hard to say that Knecht's value has dropped to a late 1st. Personally, I had Knecht as a top 12 prospect in last year's draft who only fell because teams overvalue age in a prospect. In the first 18 picks, only 4 juniors or seniors were selected. In the final 12 picks of the first round, 5 junior and seniors were taken. Leave out the Knecht for the CHA SRP and Kings' SRP (or re-route them to Charlotte instead), and Lakers kick in a few SRPs and they're in.

Need a marquee asset if we're trading Melo, this ain't it. If our FO doesn't believe in him, I guess it's not completely outside the realm of possibility, but I think they do believe in him. They'd need to be betting against him to feel good getting picks from the Kings as a significant part of a Melo package.

Just out of curiosity from SAC's perspective, is the plan to play Mark with Sabonis? Not worried about another Turner situation?

ETA: sorry, just saw the lineups in your post. Bringing Mark off the bench I guess helps reduce his minute load, but I don't think we're letting him go for trade compensation equal to a backup role.

From what I saw the Lakers didn't have any 2nds? That was my first thought, Kleber + 2 2nds. Maybe i'm misreading what they have available.

That's a fair thought. I'm not sure if Charlotte trades him or if he could demand a premium type of asset these days, but I'd understand wanting to keep him if you don't get one. His injury history (last 3 years 36, 22, 47 games) makes me nervous.

I had Devin Carter/Knecht being worth more than Mark, so the idea was then 4 1sts + expirings + leftover value from those 2 youngins for Lamelo.

Mark would primarily play behind Sabonis, but I'd be curious to see them play high/low together for some minutes. He's another one I'm interested about. Injury history + he was already traded before failing the physical, so I'm assuming he gets moved this summer regardless.

no interest whatsoever. the 2031 MIN 1st is really the only interesting piece coming back in this entire thing (although I don't know much about Carter personally)
