Giannis to Spurs, with Chi and NO

Post#1 » by pipfan » Fri May 30, 2025 12:03 pm

Spurs send Barnes and #14 to Chicago and #2/Vassell to Milw and Castle to NO
Spurs get Giannis

Chi sends PWill/Port pick/Ayo to Milw and the #12 to NO
Chi gets Barnes/#14

NO sends Milw picks back to Bucks along with KellyO and the #7
NO gets Castle and the #12

Milw sends Giannis to Spurs
Milw gets #2/#7/Port pick/Vassell/PWill/Ayo

Spurs get their stud and go for a title around Wemby/Fox/Giannis. They still have some other youth, picks and are way under the tax with this deal to get depth

NO adds a stud, relatively cheaply. Of course, the Milw picks could be awesome or not but Castle is ready now to win. Their defense with Jones/Castle/Murphy/Missi could be epic

Chi adds a very solid vet and dumps PWill. They save money now (by moving Ayo) and in the future (losing PWill). At #14 they take Newell or Fleming
White/Ball/JCarter
Giddey/Huerter/Terry
Matas/Phillips
Barnes/#14
Vuc/Collins/JSmith

Milw have their backcourt for the next five years with Harper/Vassell, and Ayo as the 3rd guard. They add #7 (Malauch) and see if they can save PWill's career and add the Port pick

MAYBE the #7/#12 is too much, and Bucks should get #12?
MAYBE SA should add the 2027 ATL pick?

The Bulls move that long awaited PORT pick, move down from #12, give up Ayo who has shown improvement over time and get the 14th NBA season of Harrison Barnes for double what he's worth to close out his career. He's not going to help the Bulls passed the same 9 or 10 play in slot they've been stuck at. As much as you hate and however bad as you think Patrick Williams he's at least got a chance at a future.

Let Giannis' agent find him a new home without any charity from the Bulls.

I don't like Chicago moving down to dump salary

Castle isn't worth 2026 MIL Swap, 2027 Unprotected 1st (Better of MIL/NOP), and moving down from #7 to #12

The Bulls part is the hardest to swallow here. Seems like they are giving away value for the Privilege of facilitation.
For Milwaukee, if they want a pick heavy package…then maybe this is alright. IDK. It’s a complete reset and a long time to be competitive again. I’d guess if they do trade Giannis they want a combination of picks, a star level player or two and maybe a young prospect. IDK what their goals are though.

Yuck for NO. Way too much for Castle in my opinion. Though in fairness, I’m not a big Castle guy. Keeping us at 7, and just talking the two Milw picks, I could at least see some rational there for someone that actually sees him as a high end starting PG. I don’t know why the additional drop from 7 seems to turn me so much. It’s like taking a major hit in three drafts all for Castle.

That Bucks team is bad. I do not like Harper as a prospect and think Harper/Vassell would be mostly good for tanking. New Orleans and Chicago probably don’t do this. Simply not enticing.

Can risk Giannis walking in 2 years, we are fine.
