Jarrett Allen for John Konchar, Zach Edey, GG Jackson and future first round pick (lottery protected)
Allen and Ja Morant together would be an excellent pick and roll tandem. Cavaliers save money. Edey although not (yet) as good as Allen, he is only 23 years old. Same age as Evan Mobley. Cavaliers should build the team to fit with Mobley's timeline.

Seems light for Allen but not out of question. One of Williams/Wells instead of GG.

I think Cleveland should be figuring out how to improve and see the East as theirs for the taking. So I don't like the direction for them.
Its great obviously for Memphis. Too good really.

Not trying to be a smartass, but what happened with GG (if anything?)? I seem to remember last year most of the trade proposals with him in it got shot down pretty quick by Grizz fans. On the face of it, it's at least worth considering from Cavs end, IMO. Pending, OF COURSE, Mobley stating he's ok starting games at the 4/has no desire to slot into the 5 just yet. This trade also nets us a decent young prospect at the three. Conchar's 3 years is a bit annoying, but he seems to at least be a professional who won't cause problems.

GG put up mediocre numbers on a terrible team but given his age it was impressive. Then he got injured and tried returning from injury in a limited role and his attitude issues and injury kept him from finding his way.

Too good for Memphis. Maybe a deal centered around Allen for Bane makes more sense,

Fair enough, didn't know about the attitude problems from GG. Wells would seem to be the logical replacement for me in that case. Vince (and Bane) would both be strengthening a strength, which seems counter-productive. It would have to be a Mitchell trade to make sense for Vince or Bane.

Potentially close on objective value, but it's not happening.
Cleveland is looking to be a better playoff team, and this trade does not go that direction.
Also, I'd be worried about the value of Edey and GG Jackson if Memphis is selling on them.

With Edey, I DO like the fact that even as a rookie, he didn't let Draymond punk him. That and his pure SIZE is why I'd consider this. I love JA, but I'd love him even MORE with a bit of a mean streak in there somewhere...

The attitude issues were why he dropped in the draft.

Ja + Allen would be unguardable

We have never had a guy quite like Allen that could roll hard to the rim for Ja. Adams set great screens but was not the biggest threat on the roll. JJJ is stretch big so not that guy either. Edey might be able to develop that a little more and has a chance to work in the pick and pop if his 3 develops more, but likely another few years away from what Allen can do now.
I like my centers like I like my running backs, don't pay them a ton or draft them high, or use a lot assets on unless they're elite. I don't have Allen as elite but I think this is a price I would be willing to pay.

Cleveland is trading Allen for three guys (and a mid draft pick0 who would probably never start for them. I assume this is to move Mobley to center, which isn't a bad idea, but this is pretty terrible value. Edey is not good.

Edey is fine, a low-end starter who improved throughout the year. He isn't as good as Jarrett Allen, I agree.

Like I said, I assume this trade is meant to free up the center spot for Mobley. Which means Edey would be a backup, like the rest of those players. That's where he fits best in the NBA, but you can get a starting 3 or 4 for Allen, at least. Edey should not be the centerpiece in a trade for an All Star.

Interesting idea but it's a bit light for Allen. The Cavs could use a girthy big such as Edey to back up Mobley. Maybe expand the deal to include a 3rd team that could bring back another useful player to Cleveland.

I concur. We might regret that willingness down the road when Edey turns into an absolute beast if he manages to improve his hands, body strength, and body balance. There is a fair chance that it might happen. But if not, we would lose another year of Ja’s prime. We need to maximize him because it is our only chance to move up from a competitor to a contender.

The Cavaliers need a bit more value for Jarrett Allen. I don't hate this trade as much as some other do. Zach Edey looks he will be a very good NBA player for a long time and has a cheap contract for another 3 years. Easily worth a 1st round pick by himself. Add in Jaylen Wells or a 1st round pick that has more meaningful upside than a heavily protected 1st and it may be enough for the Cavaliers.

Could Memphis get to a second protected first-rounder? If so—and if Cleveland could flip those two protected firsts plus Okoro to Brooklyn for Cam Johnson—I would say yes as a Cavs fan.
Johnson, Eddey, GiGi to Cleveland
Allen to Memphis
Okoro and 2 1st round picks to Brooklyn

I think i say yes for CLE if it's Wells.
We're already stacked with 6'5' SFs, think I'd rather have GG than Williams.
Would leave an a really big frontcourt hole in CLE for them to fix another way though.
